Now, this isn't just another "oh, text speak is evil" threads (well, it is a bit), it's more a genuine comment at a rapidly spiraling out of control problem. The way we communicate is changing.
And it's not just stupid 10 year olds writing gushing "OMG hez da besstt eva lol" garbage on Youtube. It's everywhere. It's like something out of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. One minute you're writing proper sentences to each other, then you go to sleep and suddenly you're "gr8, howz u lol"? I've seen t-shirts with the word "you" replaced with "u" for NO FUCKING REASON.
Now here's my point. The way we write to each other has changed since, say, the days of Shakespeare. We don't write "doth", we don't write "thou", and even the spelling of certain words have changed. Could this be happening again?
Think about it; grown adults are now writing in this stupid, ignorant way. It's an acceptable form of communication. We no longer even KNOW how to write correct letters or anything, so how long until the correct spelling and presentation of words is just.. removed? Obsolete? Until, like Bodysnatchers, there's just a select few left (all in the Fortress, of course), trying to hide from the roaming masses of lol-mongers?
It's a depressing thought, people - but our language as we know it is dying out. Fast.
