George wins!
I decided to not put this in the Time Wasters section because I thought we could cover some ground that's never really been touched on before. We've covered how we see race and racism in our everday lives, but what about the way homosexuals are treated around you?
By the way, if the guy who made that statement was British, he would have been pretty much eaten ALIVE by the media. I doubt he'd ever play on TV ever again.

I used to be a big Tim Hardaway fan too. George Takei is the coolest thing since The Shat. That is one funny dude. Homophobia is still the norm in professional sports in America. When something like that is said, it gets heat but in the end people just shrug because it's almost expected of pro athletes to be ignorant. Here's a great article you should enjoy. www.salon.com/news/sports/col/kaufman/2003/01/08/homoerotic/print.htmlDo I give a rat's ass if I was an athlete taking a shower in the locker room and a dude checks out my good? Not even a little. As long as he respects my personal space he can look and imagine whatever he likes. How is that hurting anything? Most of the idiots who get upset about that shit are just too stupid to realize that around 10% of the population is likely gay. That is to say that if you even have 10 people you know, it's likely 1 of them is gay or at least bi on some level. The funny thing is, they think that all gay people are either as flamboyant as Liberace or a bulldyke like Rosie O'Donnell. They never stop to consider that the vast majority look and behave as normal as anybody else. They just prefer to go to bed with the same gender. Doesn't affect who they are one bit. And if they think there aren't gay people in your family or at their workplace inwardly laughing at their stupidity when they act like a homophobic idiot then they're embarrassingly naive.

Sadly, Tim Hardaway is not alone as THIS MAN: who made himself a career out of singing lyrics such as: I just can't believe All the things people say Controversy Am I black or white? Am I straight or gay? Controversydoesn't think too much of homosexuals either: gawker.com/5090339/prince-says-god-against-homosexualityEddie Murphy once joked that there was really nothing wrong with gay men. I agree with him when he jokes: " - I'm going to have a beer, what are you gonna do? - Oh I'm gonna go somebody's dick Ok, well I'll see you later!" It's a choice and everyone is free to make one.

I don't necessarily think it's a choice for most people. Sexual attraction is primarily chemical and psychological in nature. These account for both and nurture and neither are something we can personally help. It's just how we are. I know I couldn't choose to be gay no matter how hard I tired to dig a man. I give homosexuals the courtesy of assuming it's the same for them.

Eddie Murphy has actually publicly apologized for the Raw "faggots" material. Damn funny though. And I never understood how Prince was attacking gays in that article. I've read it before, and "sticking it anywhere" can mean a lot of things. In fact, a quick Google search made me proud of my boy once more.. www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/11/18/prince-irate-after-allegations-hes-anti-gay-marriage/Even though one other review criticized his new album because of the lyric "so what's the deal? Are you gay or poppin' pills?" as homophobic. He's hitting on a girl, you dumbass. He then says they're still only holding hands, so he's asking if she's a lesbian or if she's on drugs. It's supposed to be a fucking joke. Jeeez. Nice article, Trashy - I've always laughed at the macho attitudes of football (and British soccer) that are thrown out the window when a goal is scored. I actually had to scold myself for being a bit knee-jerk homophobic, when I first moved out of my parents house. I got talking to this (openly) gay guy who asked me if I wanted to go for a drink after work. My first initial thought was "oh shit, what if he comes onto me???" and I actually felt embarrassed for being so childish. So I did go for the drink, and it was fine. Except for the anal sex. Seriously, I know a lot of gay guys and girls now, and it doesn't even phase me in the slightest. I actually enjoy making deliberately ignorant remarks to them. "Well, don't worry, you're going to Hell anyway.. is he.. you know.. one of YOUR kind?" etc etc. It's all good.
