Who do YOU want in the best movie roles? It happens every time. Every time a spin on a popular franchise is announced, the internet explodes with people saying what a terrible cast there is. Too big, too small, too British, too American, too white, too black.. hell, look no further than the rabid fury the new James Bond is getting for proof of how picky people can be. So it's time now, at The Fortress, for us all to decide who would be the best for the movie franchises you just KNOW they're going to make. Cinema schedules are full of remakes, comic book adaptations and old TV show "re-imaginings." So if you thought Ving Rhames as Kojak was a bad idea (and you wouldn't be alone), give your own thought to who could play the following.. 1. The A-Team 2. Dungeons and Dragons (1980's cartoon series) 3. Knight Rider 4. Captain America I'll let you decide. You can cast a few, or one or all. Or none. (But that would suck). I'll have a bit of a think about it and post my own cast soon. Feel free to throw in any other franchises that need casting too.

The other day, I was looking at the upcoming line-up of movies on a free preview cable pay-channel I was getting. Saw "Nick Fury- Agent of SHIELD' and thought to myself, "Cool!". Then I checked the info and saw David fucking Hasselhoff as the lead actor. Needless to say, I skipped that one. The other most idiotic choices of actors to play timeless comic characters: Ah-nold as Mr. Freeze, Affleck as Daredevil, Halley Berry as Catwoman, I even heard that Cameron Diaz was offered Wonderwoman. Thank God she declined. As for the A-team, I don't see anybody replacing Mr. T. Just impossible. I'm personally a big fan of casting non-superstars or unknowns as established characters. I thought Tobey was good for Spidey, Routh good for Supey, Hugh for Wolvie, Christian for Bats, etc. largely because they had no baggage and nothing much to live up to so they just became their character. I'd like to see another star created by casting an unknown to play Captain America. If it turns out they cast Affleck or someone dumb again, I'm gonna have a fit. Cap has yet to be done justice on the big screen. Mostly, I just hope Ledger and Topher Grace don't screw up my two all-time favorite supervillains. But I have faith in Raimi and Nolan so I'm still expecting the two best superhero sequels ever in 2007.

Woah woah woah WOAH - dissing The Hoff is a crime punishable by death round these parts.
Well, OK - head-scratching choice for Nick Fury I suppose, but that made for TV movie isn't all that bad. I think I mentioned it many moons ago on this site.
It has a pretty decent attention to the comics, and once you get over the fact it's Hoff in the role, he's not THAT bad at it (one thing you gotta say about Hasselhoff - he is watchable).
For a cheap TV movie it could have been 100 times worse, and yet it was 100 times better than the big budget, major release Catwoman. Go figure.
Next time its on Sci-Fi channel, Trashie - check it out. You may just like it. Kind of.
As for the A-Team, I think if it was made into a major movie, (which, let's face it, they've done movies out of far lesser series), it would be George Clooney playing Hannibal. That sucks, I know, because he irritates the crap out of me. But I still imagine it being him.
