I'm sure all of you here in the Fortress have heard of such atrocities as this:

I don't have anything against most labels, though the greedy, exploitive stereotype applies to many of them, but WMG pisses me the fuck off. A number of my own videos (granted, most are shit... but that's not the point) were taken down from Youtube or muted due to 30 second clips of Warner artists' music I put in them. How picky can you get?

It especially gets me that fans can't do anything to stop it, other than boycott the label (unrealistic) or pirate the music (which, as we've seen, only makes things worse) or write angry letters to the company that WMG secretaries will glance at and throw away (yawn).

A friend and I uploaded our very own "Hate video" for WMG and posted links to it on a bunch of their artists' videos, but that was mostly for our own gratification. (It mostly involved our cursing the label and torching our version of WMG as a tangible thing with gasoline, all to the venomous, thrashing riffs of non-WMG band Exodus)

Anyway... the point of this thread is that WMG pisses me off, and I hope Edgar Bronfman Jr., CEO of WMG, will knock this shit off.

Yup. Go indie, my friend. The music is better and you don't have to deal with this kind of bullshit. What these idiots don't comprehend is that people hear the music or see the embedded videos their friends post and then they run to buy the album or see the band in concert or whatever and they tell their friends. Free samples only help business. Ask Costco. But since the benefits are intangible from a statistical sandpoint and make moderate amounts of money in the longterm as opposed to the shortterm and major labels are focused ONLY on what is making millions right this second, the knee-jerk reaction is to rape the fans this way because they will always come crawling back. Except I for one won't. There's plenty of music out there. The underground will welcome you with open arms.
