This is probably old news in the US now (in fact, its old news in the UK come to think of it) but did anyone actually WATCH this?
Now, usually the words "reality" and "television" will have me switching that second word off. But no, the fact it was about superheroes (erm, kind of) and the fact it had the always watchable Stan Lee in it meant I actually watched every damn episode.
And you know what? It. Absolutley. Sucked.
It was the most ludicrous, staged, ham-fisted performances from some obviously mentally ill people (although, tellingly, one was heard talking about a good website to find out how to audition for reality TV shows - hmm, really INTO this project, huh?) and some of the people had obviously never read a comic in their life (witness: Cell Phone Girl, "hi. I'm a girl. And I like cellphones, hee hee hee" she probably said)
On the other hand - it DID make for some jaw-dropping, "is this shit for real" television. And hey - Stan Lee was in it, man.
I dunno about the US, but the UK Sci-Fi channel has this show on pretty much every day, and if you're lucky you'll be able to time it right and catch it from the start. It's awful, awful stuff - but pretty entertaining awful stuff.
Anyone else see this?

Yeah, that show was a riot. Trust me, it only gets worse (or better depending on your point of view). Wait until the contestants start crying and shit over Stan Lee praising them in that falsely sincere, patronizing way he does. Makes me wonder if any of this crap is for real. I will give it up for The Man, though; I know I couldn't do that show and keep a straight face when talking to those people. But the "Fat Mama" song & dance alone was worth sitting through that show. Don't forget to watch the finale where the finalists get to star in little mini movies about their characters. It is laugh-until-you-cry funny (if you're a sarcastic bastard like I am, that is, and I know you are). Stupid, stupid show, but one I enjoyed for all the wrong reasons.

Yeah, I watched it right to the end. The best part for me was the "dog challenge" - I laughed my ass off watching that. I can't remember her name, Banana Girl or something - man those dogs took her DOWN.
Oh, they're making a second series, by the way, so expect more freaks, geeks and loons in badly fitting spandex soon.

I'd meant to post about this a while back.. Mostly after seeing the dog challenge - that had me in kinks!
The rest of the show is awful, though... You have to wonder what the Hell Stan is doing involved in it - it kind of suggests that all comic book fans are gimps (conveniently overlooking the point described by Mr C where it's quite obvious half of them have never seen a comic, let alone read it).
A second series?? Ah well, at least it's more believable than Big Brother 8 - don't get me started on that shit!
Toodles!

Ahhh, Big Brother - may it roast in hell. I actually watched the opening episode, and tiny credit where its due - there is a high percentage of hotties in there, but dear God.. is THIS what, ahem, "the youth of today" IS now? Vaccous, self-obsessed, celebrity culture orientated DRONES? Seriously, it's like watching a room full of the same dull, empty headed person. It would be sad if it weren't so disturbing. Anyway... *SPOILER WARNING* I doubt anyone who hasn't seen it is going to watch it now, but you never know.. I don't think I could have picked a more DESERVING winner than Feedback. Strip away the reality television dicks who'll appear on everything, and Fat Momma (who, really though, probably wouldn't have even made it to the semi-finals if she wasn't fat and black) and there really was only one person who took it more seriously than even Stan Lee himself. Check his Myspace video to see why. www.myspace.com/feedback_is_my_heroYou gotta admit - those are some bitchIN' outfits. Check out Scorpion! And the black suit Spidey! Wow.. suddenly I actually want to hang out with this guy... what does that say about The Curmudgeon.......?
