A similar thread to the music one (if you haven't read it, go do so now, I'll wait. Read it now? Good), and also just a chance to show what's floating your boat in the world of film right now. So answer me these questions.. two.
1. The last DVD you bought and 2. The next DVD you're going to buy.
Unlike CD where I meant vinyl or download, with DVD I do actually MEAN DVD. Because if you're buying filthy VHS tapes you have no business being here, and I don't think the 11 people that actually buy Blu Ray visit this site.
So I'll get the ball rolling. I haven't actually been buying DVD's much as of late. Not that there isn't anything I want, its just my money is pretty much all gone recently - I've just paid for my London flights and hotel to see Prince and I'm going to Italy and Gran Canaria this year too. But I did buy a very sweet 2 disc edition of "Dig!", the Dandy Warhols documentary. I've never actually seen it, but I'm a massive fan of the band and its supposed to be brilliant.
The next DVD I'm going to buy is another film I haven't seen but, well, ISN'T supposed to be brilliant; Ghost Rider. I haven't heard any glowing reports about it to be honest, but, hey - it's Ghost Rider. How bad can it be......? Gulp.
That's my lot. Over to you..

I just got an import (though the quality and distinct lack of a case scream "bootleg") on ebay of the second season of a kickass anime series called "Black Lagoon". I know I'm a bad boy, but the first disc of the first season is just being released in America and I just couldn't wait another two years for the second season (I'd already imported the first legitimately, I think). Tomorrow I shall purchase the extended edition of "Fantastic Four". Damn, I'm glad I didn't buy the initial release on that one because I hear the added material is quite good and I refuse to double-dip. Other recent purchases include "Afro Samurai" and "The Boondocks" (funniest cartoon in years and years, I can't recommend this show enough).

I stopped buying DVDs a long time ago, not because I don't enjoy movies, but because they're too damn expensive. For that reason, I can't remember the last one I bought. It might have been Black Hawk Down.
There are a few I want, but none that I have the money to afford. At the top of my "want" list is Boondock Saints and Con Air.

Hi. As for me, I mostly trade like a madman at DVD Swaps and I scoop up stuff once it reaches bargain bin price here. And it does. Hollywood GLUTS the DVD market with crap like FAST & THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT and it eventually sells for about €6 or less here (not bargain bin price in the US, but to the UK that's like buying it second hand. Obscure stuff usually goes for bargain bin price quickly first OR deathly last. One has to really pay attention at the stores to notice how the system of it works and good estimates as well as frequent visits help me nab things at the fraction of the original costs. The last DVD I got was the NOES boxset R1 version. Had to trade a few things, but I got it for MUCH less than if I had bought it when it originally came out. What I'll get next is Seasons 2 & 3 of THE SHIELD, which is THE BEST show I've seen in a LONG time. Best Regards, InvisibleWolf

Damn, that's nice. I've been after the Doctor Who "first seasons" (ugh) for ages, but unlike other boxsets they don't seem to be coming down in price AT ALL.
It's weird - the likes of 24 and Lost are all 24 episodes and are about thirty quid, give or take. Doctor Who is 12 episodes and are sixty.
Where's the logic in that? I think the BBC could make a killing if they dropped the price of the DVDs. Let's face it, its only die-hard fans who are gonna pay £60 for a 12 episode series that they've already seen, but the more casual viewer would certainly pick it up if it was the same price as other boxsets.

Hey, I just had an awesome "sniping" session on ebay, something I haven't done in aaaages. I got
Dukes of Hazzard for £0.65 Pumpkinhead for £1.70 Bad Santa for £1.20 Copland for £1.40 Wild Things for £1.40 Over The Hedge for £5.50 Borat for £5.50 Pans Labyrinth (2 disc) for £7
Borat and Pans aside, those are movies I wouldn't normally have looked out for, but I can't complain at those prices. One reason I love ebay.
