Well, I gotta admit.. this surprised me. In fact, a chart commentary I read ever week states it is something of a genuine first; amongst a crop of big name album releases in the UK, a re-released Rolling Stones album (Exile on Main Street) soared straight to the top. Maybe the fact it had extra, previously unreleased tracks on there. Maybe because it was digitally re-mastered and sounds better than ever. Maybe because of the superb adverts on late night TV ("The Greatest Rock and Roll album of all time!") But regardless.. the Rolling Stones have the number one album in the UK. And now we cut to Mick Jagger listening to his already frightening bank account get even bigger. MUSIC! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObU70YLF8qA&feature=related

If I had a CD player I'd consider getting some of that action. I've got the 40 Licks collection, but no full albums and I'm a sucker for bonus tracks.

I bought the 40 Licks album as well, but I've also got a few of the classic albums (Let It Bleed is stunning) but yeah, you can't go far wrong with the Licks record. It does get a little.. er.. spotty near the end of the second disc though.
It looks like a nice package, this Exile re-release. A digipack cover with a 12 page booklet, it goes the sensible route and has the bonus tracks on a seperate disc, instead of annoying the purists by bunging them on the end of the original album (a lot of the Bowie re-releases did that).
That's it, I've talked myself into it. It's essential for me now. So you still don't have a CD player, Trash? Damn, that sucks. I'm actually going to be making a thread about a CD player later.. seriously.

I had one in my car, but it broke so it's all iPod for now. Sucks because my iPod filled up ages ago and my computer died a horrible death and took a lot of my iTunes with it (I have some outdated back-up discs somewhere) so I can't really listen to any albums I bought in the last couple years. I'd kill to crank some Melt Banana right about now. Or the best-of Dio album I got a few months ago. The money I'd spend to buy a new CD player had to go to buy a new tv (which also died) and now my car reg is due (with a mandatory smog) so I'll have to mkae due without until I hit the lottery or something. This is my fucking life.

Must've. Or it could be that black cat I threw into the mirror under a ladder on Friday the 13th.
