Yeah, you'll all have heard about this by now. #2, Pigface, Paul Gray from Slipknot has passed away. The details are sketchy but the saddest part is he leaves behind a wife and unborn son. I managed to see Slipknot twice, both times just blew me away. I got tickets to a secret fan club show in a venue that is famous for being one of the best, and they more than lived up to its reputation. I remember they all walked out on stage in their boiler suits and looked like fucking serial killers. I remember buying the Iowa album the same day as the Strokes album, expecting both of them to be wiped out in the charts by crappy, ultra popular boyband 5, only to see the Strokes debut hit the second spot and fucking Slipknot number ONE. I remember Mrs C crowd surfing to "Duality." I remember the mainstream sheep that could easily embrace the goonish drivel of Limp Bizket, but still backed away in fear from Slipknot. Yeah, Slipknot will probably continue, but Paul was one of the original members. Speaking as a guy who really isn't into a lot of metal bands, Slipknot ticked every box for me. RIP. www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1jQKpse7Yw

Yeah, this stinks. Frazetta, Dio, and now Gray all gone in a couple weeks. So not fair. I saw Slipknot thrice and was only disappointed once. When I saw them at Ozzfest (where they played the second stage even though they were one of the biggest bands there to be closer to the action) they KILLED. Sid came out in a Michael Myers mask and walked right to where I was standing and just fucking stared while the intro played. Creepy even in the middle of the day.
