Oh, like I even need to explain this anymnore. Listen to the song, tell us what you think. It's that simple. And, of course, this is more current music that's floating around my iPod as you read this unlike the last series where it was, ahem, how it all began.
Anyway, enough redundant explanations. Let's get down to the music, and I thought I'd start with a band I saw live just last week. And I discovered them through.. come closer so I can whisper it.. a TV talent show.
No no, not THAT one. Or that other one. This was Orange Mobile Act Unsigned, a show that was quick to remove itself from any possible X Factor style comparrisons from the first episode. Basically, unsigned bands and artists from all over the UK played to 4 people; the guy who's record label the winning band would be signed to, a radio DJ, the bass guitarist from iconic UK band Blur and the former Kenickie (who've been covered in this forum before) lead singer and alternative music Godess Lauren Laverne. Every band must play live, must sing their own songs (they only had one week of cover versions, and the band had to totally redesign a song of their choice) and also play acoustic as well. It was fun, it was smart, it was pretty damn gripping stuff towards the end.
Anyway, this band came second - Hip Parade, a rock and roll outfit from Scotland who were, quite simply, astonishingly good live (and nice guys afterwards too).
So this is their first single when they got signed by a little indie label last year. "It rocks" is really a cliche but.. damn, how else do you describe "Girl on the Radio?"
