As I'm gearing up for my fourth year of college, moving into a new place with my girlfriend and trying to find a job, I'm in need of some cash. The thread title says it all; I'm offering my Godzilla Final Box set for sale. Includes everything pictured here:
The set can actually be bought from the website CD Japan for $1058 / £705 plus shipping. When I bought the set five years ago, I paid a grand total of about $1000 / £667 for it. That's the price I'm offering it for now, plus shipping (which I assure will be the cheapest option possible).
If anyone's interested, either reply to this thread or send me a private message and we'll work out the transaction process.
- Very limited edition. Released by Toho in 2005 after taking pre-orders through the end of 2004. They manufactured exactly enough copies to meet their pre-orders, and that was it.
- Contains a total of 30 discs, region 2 coded and NTSC color system, like all Japanese DVDs.
- Discs 1 through 27 feature every Godzilla movie from Godzilla (1954) through Godzilla: Tokyo SOS (2003). The only one not included is Godzilla: Final Wars, as it was still in theaters when Toho made this set, but they put in an empty placeholder case for it.
- All of the movies include special features of some sort, from the original Japanese theatrical trailers (on all but Godzilla Raids Again) to full-blown making-of featurettes (for all of the Heisei films) with lots of behind-the-scenes eye candy.
- Disc 28 features Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the edited US version of the original film starring Raymond Burr.
- Discs 29 and 30 include many more bonus knick-knacks, including the Symphonic Fantasia features Toho produced in the '80s with special effects footage from the Golden Era films set to newly-recorded renditions of classic themes by maestro composer Akira Ifukube.
- The DVDs for the movies come in their own individual slim cases, with the three bonus discs in a fold-out digipak. All are housed in a sturdy, high-quality cardboard box.
- The crown jewel of the whole set is, of course, the Godzilla head bust. It's a replica of the original 1954 Godzilla suit's head, recreated down to the smallest detail by the team of craftsmen that designed the monster suits for Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001). This head bust is BIG. The picture doesn't really do justice to how massive it is. If it was hollow and you wore it like a mask, your eyeline would be right around Godzilla's jaw.
- The set includes a large, plastic black pedestal which the head replica locks securely into. The pedestal also has a depression to snugly fit the DVD box on.
- As an added bonus, the set comes with a thick book containing nearly every Japanese theatrical poster for all of the Godzilla movies on glossy, high-quality, full-color pages.
- DISCLAIMER: The DVDs do not have English subtitles. But if you want, I can hook you up with downloadable English subtitle scripts and the software you need to burn your own DVD-R copies with subtitles using these discs. (I've already done this myself in anticipation of selling this set.)
