From M.I.A's banned everywhere (even Youtube) video last week to a video that was seemingly made with Youtube in mind. A parody of a cult classic? A cameo from Weird Al? It's got "OMG, click this link to watch" written all over it. So, Hanson. Known mainly (sigh, OK, ONLY) for fucking Mmmbop, Hanson are anything but a one-note novelty act. They've created some superbly crafted, catchy pop songs in the 15 years since THAT song, and yet people seem amazed at the fact they're not all still 14 waiting for their balls to drop. I was always going to put a Hanson song in here, but it always a question of which one. But an almost shot-for-shot recreation of a scene from the Blues Brothers (complete with Taylor doing the blind man head shuffle)? Weird Al looking downright funky? It had to be this one. I got their second album as a bit of a joke, and after I played it to death their third was an import purchase the day it was released in the US. Ditto their fourth album and now the fifth - which this is taken from - is on my radar too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPt0fFtWG6AWho are you to argue with Quagmire's fantasy woman...? Oh my God! This is insane! I've got all these magazines! Oh my god!
