In a weird sort of unknown mutual decision, myself and Trashcanman decided to send each other stuff that we thought the other may like. I had a spare Prince CD, he a spare Misfits CD. And said Misfits album is now MINE. Haven't listened to it yet, but I have put it on my iPod first of all (guaranteed to be played then, see). Alongside those two albums were two mix CDs of various stuff, named "The Awesome Stikes Back" and "Return of the Awesome." And who the hell am I to argue with titles like that? If all CDs were named like that boys and girls, we would be living in a better world. So many thanks, Trashcanman. I'll let you know what I think..

Please do. Sorry you missed the first part of that trilogy, but it was burned from my now-defunct computer and for some reason my last copy would not goddamn play and a lot of the music that was on it is no longer available to me. Enjoy.

So are you still stuck listening to iPod only?

My iPod died on me. Of course. I've replaced my car stereo so I can listen to CD's again, thank God. Plus I got these sweet headphones from Amazon Vine to listen to music on my computer and actually get decent sound for a change.

Well, I've now added all tracks and album titles to my iPod (Awesome Strikes Back and Return of the Awesome - why isn't there actual compilation albums with these names?) and I'm updating my iPod on Friday before I go on holiday, so I'll give them a proper listen then.
First impressions; well, I deleted a few tracks from my iPod that I already had (Manics, Sonic Youth, Prince - that one was a surprise by the way) but from what I've heard Melt Banana could be my new favourite band and damn, White Zombie? Marilyn Manson is either a huge fan or someone ripped the fuck out of Beautiful People!

Actually, that Zombie track is a cover of a Black Sabbath classic. If I'd known you were going to iPod them, I'd have burned MP3 discs and you'd have gotten a shit-ton more music. I'll keep that in mind. I actually had burned the disc before I realized you'd obviously heard those tracks. I wasn't sure just who all I was sending them to when I made the comps. I just tried to find a good mix of obscure tracks from well-known artists along with favorite lesser-known bands and songs that I want people to hear. Hopefully something for everyone. Since you are somewhat into electronica, you should definitely look into Melt Banana Lite (their all-electronic side project). Just amazingly noisy and hard-hitting stuff. Most of their songs are 30-second blasts of noise so they don't lend themselves to comps well (aside from the track I included), but the way each one flows into the next is so killer.
