Leatherface IQ's all over Britain rejoiced when the X Factor started up its conveyor belts once again on Saturday, and it was, of all people, the lead singer from indie idols Bis who pointed this little fact out..
The vocals were autotuned.
Because it's not the live finals, the auditions vocals were enhanced. So, think about that for a second.. a singing show, where you're supposed to judge someone by their SINGING.. has altered vocals. And not just making the good ones seem better.. they altered the vocals on the wack-jobs too to make them sound even worse.
I really can't even get my head round that. As I said on Facebook, anyone who takes this show even the slightest bit seriously needs to take a damn good look at themselves.

Whoa. Who the hell made that decision? It pisses me off enough when bands overdub their live albums, but altering vocals on a live show where you are supposed to vote on who is the best singer is defecating on the grave of the musical integrity they already slaughtered slowly and painfully.

I just think its funny that, come the live finals, the plankton who actually care about this show will think the people they liked first time around suddenly aren't as good. It's baffling. Has this sort of thing not happened on the American Idol show yet?

Nope. I can see the show going to ratings hell QUICK if it does. Idol has a largely old fogey audience who are not big fans of that sort of thing (note the complete lack of success for hip-hop/R&B on the show). Auto-tuning is a big earsore for anybody that doesn't have the sensibilities of a 12 year old so there's just no way it would fly here.
