Yeah, remember Axl Rose? Remember Guitar Hero 3? Apparently Axl Rose just now found out about the game that came out over three years ago and found out it has [gasp] Slash in it. Well, with him in all of the commercials and on the box art, you'd think it'd be common knowledge, but no. Read on: xbox360.ign.com/articles/113/1136465p1.htmlI really don't envy the publishers who put out these games. Imagine having to deal with people like Yoko Ono and Courtney Love just to put out a fun video game. And Axl Rose is the kingpin of rock crazy. He's so fucking insane it takes him YEARS before something makes him angry. He actually broke up GNR some ten years later based on not liking the drums on Appetite For Destruction (probably not true). What a dip.

Yeah, I'd heard of this too. Imagine sitting in the Guitar Hero/Rockband offices, someone gets the mail and then shouts, "guyyys... guess who we pissed off this week."
Axl Rose is a lunatic, so this will probably get blown over anyway (what's he going to do? Go back in time to stop it coming out?) But I hear they're making a new album that will be out "soon." That's not even a joke.

Ugh. After the painfully overproduced 15 year ordeal that was Chinese Democracy I am no longer even curious. It's the old line-up or it's fucking nothing for me. Rose is suing Activision for 20 mil. It'll be fun to see him try and prove in a court of law that somebody totally promised to ditch their coverboy and the biggest draw in their game just because Axl is a petty little bitch.

So, wait.. the use of Welcome to the Jungle I can understand if he didn't give permission (but he's just discovering it now? I know the band have been in limbo but he hasn't. Why is he just finding out about this about four years too late?) but how can he sue for the appearance of Slash on the cover of the game? Shouldn't that be, um, Slash's problem?

His story is that he agreed to let them use the song only if the game had nothing to do with Slash or Velvet Revolver. So the commercial had Slash and featured a Velvet Revolver song. And nobody apparently told him until just now.

Oh, I'm sure he noticed. It's standard practice to max out your royalties before you hit the company with a lawsuit. Happens all the time. It took Lee Hazelwood a decade to sue Megadeth for their cover of "These Boots." Apparently some of the altered lyrics offended him (but only after he got his checks in the mail for 10 years). In similar, but less money-oriented news, Sebastian Bach made a scene after a bar act refused to share their stage with him. www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/sebastian_bach_arrested_twice.htmlBach and Axl should just get married already. As much as I love Bach's work, the guy is a total asshole, especially when he drinks. I do have to admit, though, being arrested for "mischief" has bragging rights written all over it. I wasn't even aware such a crime existed.

It's up there with "shenanigans" on the serious misdemeanor list. Baz of all people should understand that you never interlope on another band's show without being invited. There's a lot of ego that goes into a great performance. Good call on the royalties thing too, Ben. Hadn't thought of that. Here's one that just came up to beat even Axl's nonsense. Cypress Hill vs GTA from like, forever ago. gnews.com/rockstar-sued-for-grand-theft-fraudo-by-cypress-hill-singer-16201046122809/

Wow, now that's pathetic. I'm not sure what the boys in Cypress Hill are making every year, but you'd think these celebs would have enough financial security where they wouldn't have to come up with these crap lawsuits. I'm sure Axl is really suffering without these millions he claims he's owed. I know it's all about "getting what they're due" or whatever, but don't they realize it hurts their image because everyone else is laughing at them?

They've got a lot of time on their hands and are miles out of touch, I figure. Plus you know their lawyers are telling them they have to do it hoping to get a cut.
