I'm about up to my neck in this comic series right now and I've got to say "WOW". Every horror fan's dream come true in comic form. Imagine an even snarkier version of Buffy inhabiting the world of classic slasher films. Now imagine instead of a loving mother, her only parent was a cannibalistic serial killer she had to off herself. That person is series protagonist, Cassie Hack. Add in a lovable deformed brute of a sidekick with a child's mind and a butcher's knife prowess and throw in some horror references and crossovers and you've got Hack/Slash in a nutshell. Man, this comic is dark, smart, gory, sexy, funny, and just plain badass. Observe this gallery of awesome. Because I know you love a good homage: And this one's for you, C. How is this for a rogue's gallery? For such a young series, I've got to say the villains are some of the best I've seen. So beautiful it brings a tear to my eye. There's been a film planned since forever, but it hasn't happened yet. Personally, I think it could only be done justice as an R-rated weekly series, but what do I know. Anyways, if you're in the market for some serious horror-comic hotness or just miss the glory days of Buffy, give it some love.

Holy shit, that looks AMAZING. I'd heard of it before, but only in passing, this is the first I've really seen what its all about. Herbert West and Wizard of Oz covers??? Why are they not in my hands right damn NOW?!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Yeah, I've just got to share this stuff. You would LOVE that Wizard ish. It has somebody killing the people behind an upcoming gritty, realistic, modern, hip Oz remake and there are references to lore and legends from the classic movie (little person suicide, anyone?) that are just priceless. Those Reanimator and Child's Play arcs are the best crossovers I ever read, too. Just a flawlessly written comic all around. Great characters and character development, lots of oblique references and humor; just damn good times. There were a couple of issues that took place in an Archie-style comic town that had the art style and everything. There was this scene where the typical religious killer is stalking couples hoping they will have sex and sin so he has an excuse to kill them and getting frustrated because they are all these innocent 50's comic kids and going further than holding hands is practically taboo. Pretty funny stuff.
Hack/Slash started with a string of graphic novels and then got a 30-something issue run as a series before jumping ship to another publisher with an excellent prequel series. The new ongoing series is coming up in a few months and I can't wait. Definitely one of my favorite series in a while.

OK, so if I get into something it's always the full story or nothing. So where do I start? I'm checking ebay and it's a baffling ordeal, so many titles and series. What's the intro series called or how do I "begin?"
