www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/taco-bell-pulls-ads-mtv-74037I'm sure you've heard of the popular teen drama Skins. It's a British show after all. Well, MTV didn't like the accents so they've gone and remade it their way. The national stick-in-ass brigade is out in force over an apparent bare butt shot of a 17 year-old actor that is being shrilly decried as child pornography. Yeah, that's Hitler showing contemptful exasperation over this protest. How about it, guys? Throw the book at them over showing a person a few months short of legal adulthood's ass, or grow the fuck up and realize that a single shot of a physically mature person's rear end is not the same as jacking off to pictures of toddlers with objects inserted into their orifices (or whatever the fuck it is pedos do)? Either way, how much do you think these idiots are going to increase the show's ratings by making this huge stink?

Am I the only one that smells a deliberate advertising ploy here?
"In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode," - And the core audience says - "SOLD!"
the PTC, which earlier called the show "the most dangerous program ever for children." - And again they say - "SOLD!"
So a show that a lot of people may not have known anything about (who watches half the shit on MTV anyway?) is now big news because of its dangerous, sexy content. Yeah, I can see that turning a lot of people away.
Skins is a pretty big deal over here with "The Youth", but it's something I haven't even seen an episode of. I guess I missed the first few eps and didn't really bother trying to catch up. It's not really something I was interested in anyway, a lot of purposefully "cool" beautiful people doing sensational stuff that "are relevant to young people nowadays" (drugs! Violence! Threesomes! You know, like every kid now, apparently) The closest I got to Skins was Misfits, which was branded as "Skins with Super Powers!"
I think the UK Skins will get away with a lot more, with a lot less media outcry, than the US version by the sounds of it. The UK just puts a warning at the start of the show and pretty much does what they want after it. Good luck getting that on MTV.

I saw an ep of the British version once. It was decent, but I wasn't really clamoring for more. I'm not really the core audience for gritty teen dramas, sexy or not sexy.

Yeah, I'm not big on that stuff either. There's a ridiculous, terrible soap over here called Hollyoaks that has dozens of perfect looking people and.. well, that's it. I've talked to people who are amazed I don't watch it because there's so many hot girls in it. Pretty sure I'd shoot myself if I were that fucking bored and shallow.

The PTC are the PMRC of television, and fuck them. They denounced Californication too, and I think Burn Notice and Psych and other completely harmless shows as "dangerous for children", so fuck them. They suck. I've had enough of this people (and sorry to say, MOSTLY WOMEN) with sticks in their assholes all worried becuase a shot of a tit or an ass for a second is gonna screw up their children for life. I have news for you, if ALL it takes for your children to be completely screwed, is to see a butt for a second, then your kid is fucked either way. Abandon the parenting ship now, because there's NOTHING you can do. The real world is gonna fuck that kid up. And yeah, a few months shy of 18? So what? Thora Birch did it in American Beauty with parental consent, just like I'm sure this girl did. It's her and her parents decision, not yours. Shut the fuck up and get out of my tv, you twats.

Seriously, fuck those people. My mother's 13-year-old stepchild wanted to watch Easy A (PG-13), and she freaked out after reading the back of the dvd, which apparently says something about a girl lying about her virginity. That kid is going to have one fuck of a rude awakening in high school if that's the first place she's ever going to hear about sex. That's what they call "finding out the hard way".
