Now, this isn't me sitting in a glass house throwing stones, I'm as guilty (if not more so, hello Amazon reviews) than anyone else of this. But here's the question. Bieber, Twilight, X Factor.. why do we care? Why do we devote time to slating and mocking product aimed beneath us? We're all knowlagable and passionate fans of genuine movies and music, why do we care about some tween kiddie crap? The answer probably goes something like this. But WHY? So a bunch of 9 year old buy Justin Bieber records. Big whoop. Doesn't impact on our lives any. So why do we let it?

I actually do ignore this shit until it's shoved into my face, and even then it's mostly limited to snarky remarks. I just don't give a shit about this stuff other than the fact that it is proof of the inevitable decline of civilization. I'm fully happy sitting in my house all alone doing my thing. Beiber and Team Edward can go fuck a duck for all I care, but it is slightly disturbing to see grown members of your own family buying into these things based entirely on the fact that they are "in". My sister is a 30 year-old professional school psychologist.......and a hardcore Twi-hard. My mother spent the first 20 years of my life hating on the rock music I played and making grossly exaggerated displays of disgust at every MTV video that came on. Now she attends Gwen Stefani concerts, wears Bon Jovi shirts, and can't stop talking about how "awesome" the Black Eyed Peas are. Why the fuck would you decide to start listening to children's music in your 50's?!?!?! Seriously, man, these people are all nominated if not performing for the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards. It's like absolutely anything that is splashed all over TV must be adored or the world just isn't right with them. So even if I don't give a shit about any of this, I still have to deal with it because it is all so utterly ubiquitous that nobody can get away from it. You don't like hardcore punk and thrash metal or thoughtful hip-hop music and you can't stand quality science fiction or real deal horror? No worries. You have to go way out of your way to find it. But if you don't like childish garbage passing itself off as music or reality shows about complete fucking morons or movies with massive budget that treats you like you have a single digit IQ, then you're pretty fucked. And that, my friend, is why haters gonna hate.
