 Man, this AB thing is starting to freak me the hell out. I know it's a fun, mega-accessible, simple game and all, but this level of pop-culture assimilation is downright unusual for a video game. But hey, if the people want Angry Star Wars Birds, give the people Angry Star Wars Birds. |

If anything proves that graphics don't mean shit when it comes to games, it's Angry Birds. And the fact it's only 59 pence (what, forty cents or something?) is staggering. It's ubiquity is getting to be pretty freaky. Last week it was mentioned in Glee, this week Bones. Star Wars is all well and good, but call me when this happens.  |

The developer of this phenomenon is a bit of a doof, though. Even with these super-cheap addictive-as-crack games, I have to say that this is bullshit: wireless.ign.com/articles/115/1155372p1.htmlThat's like saying Youtube videos are going to replace big-budget cinema. No matter how many non-gamers are roped into these kiddie games making millions, there will never be a replacement for hardcore gaming on consoles and PC. Can these guys give me strategy like Civilization? Sci-fi action like Halo? An amazing story like Mass Effect? Open world RPG's like Elder Scrolls? The awesome of GTA? No, no, no, no, no. Hardcore gaming is going nowhere. Show me someone who takes Angry Birds over any of those and I'll show you a non-gamer. |

Yeah he's talking out of his ass there. The way I see it, games are the ONLY medium that people still hold some value in. Movies are streamed and downloaded and music is essentially worthless to the casual audience, but they'll still wait in line and pay top dollar for the new Call of Duty or whatever. Sitting with a group of friends playing video games is something everyone has done and will continue to do. Hunched over a fucking mobile phone isn't going to kill that off anytime soon.
