Ready to test the limits of taste? This is not another bullshit list of GTA titles and the like (that series didn't even make the grade). Some of these games are the very definition of vile and I guarantee even you will be offended. It's quite amusing to think back to the original Mortal Kombat and the outright fury and panic it created, especially considering some of those other games.
The difference between MK and the likes of that rape fantasy shit is MK took gore and violence and actually created a playable, enjoyable game with great characters and a decent story. So much so it's probably the second most famous and identifiable fighting game in the world (fuck you, Virtua Fighter. And you, Tekken).
It actually pleased me to see that the rape game was banned outright, meaning if some poor, sad, desperate bastard did actually want to play it he'd have to illegally download it. Games like these thrive on negative publicity - as long as it creates cash, which controversy often does.
Bad taste is one thing. Deliberately, maliciously and needlessly offensive is something else. Fuck that shit.

Normally I'm against banning pretty much anything, but I really can't shed a tear for people being deprived of an honest-to-god rape simulator. I actually downloaded and played a controversial game out of curiosity a while back. I can't even remember what it was called, but it had Atari 2600-style graphics and basically you walked around for a while and then some guy tells you to "rape this bitch". No choice. To advance, you must rape. If you approach her from the front, she fellates you, and from behind......well, yeah. And it makes you hold that pose as the screen slooooooowwwwwllllyyyy fades to black and if you stop then you have to start over. It was more disturbing than you'd think. Anyways, the game was fucking boring as hell and pretty much existed only to illustrate how uncomfortable something so simple can be so I didn't play much of it. But imagining a full-graphics rape game is pretty sickening to me and brings to mind how vile it was even in that shitty blocky little downloadable game. MK was controversial for the time, I suppose, but I feel like that tiff was a media creation; probably largely from Midway itself. There was very little actual outrage, I think. It doesn't belong on that list.
