Let's be honest - that wasn't really Venom in Spider-Man 3, was it? Hell, he wasn't CALLED Venom in it, he didn't refer to himself in the third person and, well, he flat out sucked. So colour me happy when I read this news.. www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/4246.aspNow, usually these things can be taken with a rather large pinch of salt, but, well, this sounds believable enough. Certainly the Venom character has enough depth to make a full length yarn out of, and I wouldn't really care if it was Topher Grace playing the part or not. Thoughts?

I thought Venom was cool in the movie -when we weren't staring at Topher Grace's face, that is. It was the way the movie itself handled him that sucked beyond all belief. Venom is a top five favorite comic book character for me and I'd love to see a full length proper SPIDER-MAN film about him. Let's face it, their entire existence revolves around the webslinger. Without him, I'm not sure the character would work.... but I'm willing to give it a try on the off chance that somebody gets Venom right.

Venom is a class character in the animated series. He wasnt mentioned enough in the acctual movie i dont think. Did he not have more strength, agility and was able to do other cool moves that the Spider couldn't? As the monger mentioned i think his character in a full length film could be awsome. What other vilians would you all like to see make the films?

Venom is supposed to be significantly stronger than Spidey in the comics, but I don't remember that coming across much in the film. I've actually bought the third film and can't really bring myself to watch it. I fear without the buzz of the cinema its going to suck royally. As for who I would like to see in the films - Carnage is an obvious choice, but after the abortion that was Venom I don't know if it would be a good idea. Maybe for the Venom film? Other than that, I think The Vulture could be a perfect villain. He kills without mercy and he could be a great, creepy old bastard. The great thing about the Spider-Man villains is there are so many of them, and most of them would be awesome. Well, except The Kangaroo. Although he may be better than New Goblin...

I don't really see Vulture working out on film. I've said it many, many times: GIVE US THE LIZARD!!! What I love about the Venom character is the creepy way he stalked Spidey and everyone he knew, scaring the hell out of MJ and Black Cat in the process. The symbiote doesn't trigger the spider-sense, can blend into any background, and Brock being so in-sync with it makes them much stronger than Spider-Man. Add a 24-hour obsession with making Peter Parker suffer into the equation and you've got one killer villain.

I think it's pretty much a given that Curt Conners will finally shed his skin, so to speak, after appearing in all three movies so far. Its just, even though he's an awesome villain in the comic, whether he'll be taken seriously by casual movie goers. They've seen Spidey fight a guy on a glider (twice), a guy with metal limbs like an Octopus, a guy who can turn into sand and a slobbering alien monster. A guy who turns into a Lizard isn't going to be that earth-shattering afterwards..? I heard a rumour that new Marvel villain Morlun would be the main villain in Spider-Man 4. While it would be nice to see a "new face", there really isn't anything to get excited about by Morlun. If we're talking vampires, surely Morbius is a perfect bet. He's not some token vampire, but a tortured scientist who tries to fight his "thirst" but can't. If they want to take the Spidey series down an ever darker route, that'd be a perfect place to start. I always wondered if they would go down the Scorpion route, with the J.Jamieson storyline. JJ is always excellent in the films, so to give him more screen time wouldn't be a bad thing. For those not in the know, JJ "created" the Scorpion to destroy Spider-Man, only for the Scorpion to go a bit nuts and try and kill JJ in the process. Would make a good movie.. So many choices...

It is worth noting that after he lost his Scorpion identity, Mac Gargan replaced Eddie Brock and became Venom for some time so going that route may be a way to revive the character and do him right. But The Scorpion would be even harder to adapt to a live action setting than The Lizard or even The Vulture and be taken seriously. But then again, we all overlooked that goofy Green Goblin helmet in the original so why not?.
