Picture the scene; you go to a movie expecting a GOOD experience. You've heard some good things, you're a fan of the franchise and you expect it to be better than Burton's Ape-shit. Then this happens. Folks, it's THAT good. For one, the special effects are incredible. I'm usually not a fan of CGI, but no guys in monkey suits could pull the incredible shit that happens in this movie. Andy Serkis' .. I dunno, do you call it a portrayal.. of little cute baby monkey to tortured adolescent to full blown revolutionary hero is nothing short of remarkable. It's not often you pull for a character in a movie that will eventually spell the end of the human race as we know it, but you sure do in this one. For fans of the series, there are loads of very clever and subtle (and not so subtle) references to not only the original movie (hint: Burton's film is wiped out of continuity) but the whole franchise, from little lines of dialogue to character names. I loved it. LOVED it. See it yesterday.

Man, I've been swamped with recs for this one. Apparently it is made out of awesomeness. I've got to see Del Toro's latest this weekend, but I may have to get on this bandwagon after that.
