You probably haven't heard, but there's a new X-Men game that just came out. Here's the trailer video.comicbookresources.com/video-game-trailers/x-men-destiny-launch-trailer/Love the idea. LOVE IT. You can not only choose whether to side with Xavier's school or Magneto's Brotherhood, but you are able to build your own mutant powers from the ground up. Not only that, but you are bale to acquire the powers of famous mutants to add to your own along the way. All of this spells "win". But then I see the trailer with it's PS2 graphics, bad voice acting, and trite-looking combat and the whole thing screams "maybe later...much later" at me. With Batman coming up quick and looking like every kind of awesome, this X-game looks like it's just not going to live up to the new bar for comic book games. What do you think?

Good find. Hadn't heard about this actually. What consoles is it to be released for. The ONLY way this could be plausible is on PSP. I think the idea is excellent. I think they have something and it fits in with current topics of interest with current Marvel story lines too. However, this here is a trailer that shows "Cinematic" sequences. THIS is cinematic quality? Your telling me this shit that given a character could do myself? Come on man. 2011 we have cutting edge games and technology. Take a swag at GOW 3 released a little over a week ago? Good graphics not Great but there better than this... Everyone remember Doom 3? That had some of the best graphics and textures I had ever seen and that came out 7 years ago. I would put Doom 3 as about 4 - 5 years before it's time. This? This is out to capture fans and obsessives alike. Do they think that we the consumer are really that stupid? If a game is out on PS3/X-Box 360/PS Vita/3DS I expect top of the range products. Considering the price we pay for these things to start with I would say fair game, right? Personally games like this, I think are awesome. See the original PS Spidey series. Amazing. Still enjoy them today. As we move on these games seem to get weaker and weaker. Likewise, they end up on bargain shelves in shops across the world. Take a more recent game, Spiderman (PS2). How good was that?! Being the first Marvel game on PS2 at the time and big boots to fill they did there job. They created something awesome and now standards are slipping. I would LOVE to see this game in HD graphics with some authentic voice actors out there - Nolan North anybody? Hank Azaria?! There are thousands who would be perfect for games like this. Look at the characters in the trailer not all of them are heavily featured around the world like wolverine and Cyclops. They had lesser hero's and thats a great thing. Graphics let it down. If those were game play fight scenes then even more awful as it looked chunky and difficult. It didn't blend well. There was a part where wolverine's swiping his claws and it misses them completely! Marvel, go away. Invest in a good company like Epic Games, Bethesda, Rareware heck even Nintendo could do better with cell shading than this pap. I love retro games because they were good at their time. They did something cool. You can still play them today. Vice City - still a great game of it's time and translates really well to this decade. This is half arsed and over promoted. I feel sorry for die hard fans who have been waiting for this dog mess to hit the shelves. It's time their teacher sits them down "GO AWAY & DO IT AGAIN! Or go sit in the naughty seat."

Nah, I dunno, the graphics aren't great but if the game play works then I would be in. It's surprising that such a premier title has pretty much slipped under the radar, and it does look like the sort of thing that was coming out around 5 years ago.
That being said, if the story is good and the options of changing sides makes for a different game, then I can forgive the average looks. As for voice actors, I don't need named actors behind my characters. Just make the script good and the people doing the voice sound like the should and that's all I need.
Like Trashy said, with Batman around the corner this gets a pass. The way game prices plummet after a few months though, and I could see myself picking this one up at a discounted price.
Nice scoop, Trash.

I'd been aware of this game for a long time, but I had no idea it was being released so soon with so many other massive titles in the mix. Stupid move. It will be buried. X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were amazing, and this looks like more of the same, but crappier. Hard to get excited when a game is visibly so much less impressive than it's predecessors. I also read in a review that there are actually only 3 pre-made mutants for you to choose from and only three power sets available to choose from (although those branch out in different directions based on your choices). Really? Is it so fucking hard to let you actually create your own character? I was hoping for a CaC system like the DC Universe or City of Heroes MMOs. Why can't we have something like that on a console? I'll give this a go when it's down to $20. It shouldn't be too long a wait. Hey, Quillguy, I think Nolan North played Deadpool in MvC3, didn't he? 'Twas awesome.
