So I read a celebrity-related story today that reminded me of a Cracked article I read a while back about how idiots take satire seriously. Give it a read and then I shall continue.

Okay, so the other day "country" music pop tart Taylor Swift (best known to non-hicks as being on the receiving end of the origin of the Kanye interrupts meme) had herself a little fit. Make sure you read the comments as well.

Note that the only evidence that this is Swift and not a look-alike was the trailer trash setting and the fact that Swift has "been known

So basically, all Taylor Swift did was take a site nobody was reading and spotlight it. Not only that, but after insisting the pic was not her, as most everybody agrees, she insisted they take it down. Well, if it is not her, there is no reason to take the image down now, is there? And still idiots persist in taking this seriously. It's funny, but it's also kind of sad that people are really this stupid.

It's funny how little details get lost in the translation over the pond. I remember reading about this in a newspaper, but it was basically saying that naked pics of Taylor Swift had been leaked and Taylor was insisting they weren't her. The only thing I remember thinking was "I fucking need to see these pics."

It's a sad, all too familiar tale. Someone writes/says something funny and people laugh. But then someone hears it, doesn't understand it and has some mis-guided moral code that means, because THEY are offended it must mean EVERYONE should be offended, makes the right kind of noise and suddenly, thanks to printed toilet paper like the News of the World, the small-minded, lead by the nose and told what to think brigade, of which there are fucking MILLIONS, get offended too, without having any real knowledge of what was so offensive in the first place.

I'd never heard of Celebrity Jihad before (and seriously, the name itself should give you an idea of what sort of "journalism" is going to be on the site) but that was some hilarious stuff. It really is easy to see it soaring over the heads of deeply stupid people.

The most shining example of being "too stupid for satire" is a TV show I've mentioned before (and reviewed on Amazon), Brass Eye. It's shown once, never repeated special, "Paedogeddon", was probably the most violently complained about TV show of all time. A front page news story had it's writer, Chris Morris, with the heading "The Most Hated Man in Britain." Morris later mentioned how, in the same newspaper calling for his head on being "sick" and "perverted", was a story DIRECTLY OPPOSITE talking about 15 year old popstar Charlotte Church and her tits, the headline being "Who's a BIG girl now?"

Clearly, "those who get it" are outnumbered by "those who don't."

"Right after Pedophile Island!" Yeah, if that didn't clue you in you are one stupid motherfucker. Also, are there pedo advocates over there to get offended in their stead or what? Why not defend the Nazis while they are at it? They were soooo misunderstood. I love the avalanche of comments on those Swift stories about how she would NEVER do such a thing as take naked pictures because she is so "classy" and "talented" and this or that. You stupid fucktards, do you KNOW Taylor Swift? Does she even know your name? Does she tell you about everyone she's ever fucked (oh wait, she'd NEVER do such a thing because she's so classy and talented and purty...)?. How could somebody vouch for the behavior of somebody they've never even spoken too? God, these people need to be sterilized. As if she's either going to go on stage and rip her clothes off every night or shower in her swimsuit for all eternity.
