Well, you've heard me sing the praises of Netflix, and we've all heard The Curmudgeon sing the praises of cancelled hilarity-fest Arrested Development. I'm a big fan of America's only reputable online film rental service as the most inexpensive and comprehensive film fanatic resource on the planet (not counting file-sharing). But one thing I did not expect, was for Netflix to do what the networks are almost always too stupid/chickenshit to do: resuscitate a dead show that still had plenty of life left to give. tv.ign.com/articles/121/1212963p1.htmlSo there you go. For once, somebody listened to the fans. I still need too watch the entire series through (I've seen many episodes during the initial run), and hopefully I'll get to that before the new season starts, but more importantly, I hope this kind of bold move brings in more customers since Netflix has hit a really rough patch thanks to some seriously unreasonable levels of consumer greed. Bear in mind that this is likely the only time you'll see me defend a corporate entity from it's customers, but a lot of people are making a concerted effort to kill this company that gives fans so much more than any other entertainment service and it kind of pisses me off. Anyways, new Arrested Development coming to Netflix. Dig it. Now if only they could do the same for Firefly...

OK, I'm going to remain calm and not get my hopes too high on this one. It would be AMAZING to have this show back, and it would make sense to have a small series before the (apparently set in stone) movie, but I can't see Hollywood big-hitters (and, like, the main point of the show) Bateman and Michael Cera lend their time to this. I mean, I hope it's a whole "we'll do it for the show and the fans" deal, but I've always read that Cera has been the biggest obstacle in getting the gang back together again. As for the original three series, Trashy if you are going to watch it, I hate to be THAT guy but you really, REALLY have to watch the whole thing in order, and preferably in a few sittings. There are so many seemingly one off gags, little visual quirks and lines of dialoge that get referenced entire seasons later that make "casual" viewing not as rewarding as it could be. I'm gushing like a fanboy here, I know, but it's seriously my favourite show ever. Ever. Back on topic though; MORE Arrested Development?

Yeah, I could tell this was a show that warrants attention. That's part of the reason I haven't seen it yet. It airs on IFC, but I want to start from the beginning and that only comes around every so often, ya know? Then again, I assume it's on Netflix streaming now so I can watch it at my leisure without clogging up my overstuffed DVD queue.
