Talk about an alternate reality; I'm currently enjoying, obsessing and adoring Batman Arkham City. It's just tremendous. Not just the game itself, but the attention to detail in the story and the characters, delving into the rich history of Batman comic books and exploring the characters back-stories and personalities. It makes you think DC Comics may have faltered in the past, but when it comes to Batman they've always been bang on the money. And then I read this (hilarious) little article from Cracked. www.cracked.com/article_19537_the-7-stupidest-attempts-to-reinvent-batman.htmlIt's like they paved bored hacks to flick through a history book and go, "what about this century? That been done yet?" Caveman Batman is a depressing eventuality.

"Poor, lonely Nazi Batman." God, Cracked is funny. Vampire Batman fucking rules, though. I know I made a thread a while back about the episode of "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" where he vamped out and took out the Justice League. It was badass. I didn't even know it was based on an actual comic. That stuff is not all that much worse than what Grant Morrison has done with the character in the last decade or so. Good. God. That is not an alternate reality, either. That was Bruce Wayne in the canon DCU during the Batman: RIP storyline (in which Batman does not in any way die as advertised). It also featured a villain known as The Sombrero. You can already picture it and he looks just like that. A dude in a sombrero. That is his entire description. He's also worked Pirate Batman into the mix, as well.

Ha ha, I've seen that pic on here before. What the fuck were they thinking? What's that pig thing in the background?
I always liked the look of vampire Batman as well. It would be different if it was regular DC Universe Batman who went around killing everyone (how do you go back from that? Oh wait, it's DC. They ALWAYS end up reversing and re-writing their own histories anyway).
Classic horror and Batman do seem to work well. Saying that, the Frankenstein one looked fucking awful.

That thing in the background is Bat-Mite, who is right up there with Bat-Hound on the pile of Silver Age lameness that should only be resurrected in tongue-in-cheek semi-parodies like the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon.
