I need to stop making assumptions with my video games. A few months back, Mrs C bought me the new Batman game. I knew I'd love it, I did and do, and I thought it would never be challenged for my attention by any other game. Along comes Naughty Bear a few weeks later. Batman still won, but it was verrrry close. And so, Christmas comes round and WWE 12 sits in my lap. I get the new wrestling game every year, and every year I create my own monstrous, 7 foot, masked killing machine (called, duh, The Curmudgeon of course) and wreak havoc on the WWE. Why, it's a festive tradition by now. And I never really expect any other game to challenge it's throne for a good few months. Wrong again. Because Mrs C also bought me another game I had never played but merely expressed an interest in. I am now hooked and in love, mainly because it turns a familiar children's tale into a twisted, macabre nightmare. Not sure what Lewis Carrol would make of seeing his Alice in Wonderland turned from the cute little blonde girl into.. Eep. Still pretty hot though.. It's got more in common with Resident Evil than what you'd expect, but for all it's horror, it's still packed with charm and Carrol like weirdness (floating noses that grunt and squeal like pigs get shot with a pepper machine gun to sneeze and reveal hidden doors and objects.. that sort of thing). Here's the trailer.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFrs5UGB-nsKeep an eye out for it. And don't be late..

I passed on it, but I may come around to it sometime. There has just been a shit ton of great games this year. As bad as 2011 has been for popular music, it's been that good for video games. Just a goddamn avalanche of quality that is going to continue as least 4 months into 2012. Not looking good for Alice anytime soon.

Yeah, I think it depends just what you're into more than anything. I think you're into way more games than I am (fucking EVERYONE was raving about Skyrim on Facebook but I heavily passed on that one). I guess if you see it at a bargain price somewhere down the line you could certainly do worse.
Anyway, you know more about this stuff than me - what games are there to look out for in 2012?

Not as many as 2011, but Mass Effect 3 is the cock of the walk with new Final Fantasy, a new and improved UFC: Undisputed, and the awesome-looking Witcher 2 coming out in the first few months. There's another RPG called Dragon's Dogma that looks like it may be brilliant, but I'm hoping to spend most of this year catching up on all the games I missed from last year so if I'm lucky the games I mentioned should be it.
