This much? www.gametrailers.com/video/jump-festa-2012-japanese/725439 Wow. A rhythm game. A FF rhythm game. A FF rhythm game where the point of a significant portion of it appears to be to simply watch your character of choice walk. But I will be damned if I do not want to play it. Why? Because that series has some of the most amazing music in it's score of any franchise, game film, television, or otherwise. The more I watched that insanity and it's tribute to 25 years of RPG awesomeness, the more I wanted it for my own. FF may have been overtaken by Western RPG's in terms of quality and innovation, but every true nerd should have a serious soft spot for the epic storytelling highs of one of gaming's most celebrated and world-shattering franchises. This game appears to be a pure tribute and a trip through all of the classic moments of the past 25 years and if I had a 3DS, I'd have to seriously consider buying a ticket. So to answer my own question: THAT is how much I love Final Fantasy. Enough to regret not owning a ridiculous rhythm game based on it. How about you guys? Am I that much of a nostalgia whore or were you starting to feel it as well?

A franchise I really want to get into but feel it's way past the point of normal entry? Final Fantasy.
A genre of game I fucking loathe with the power of a thousand suns? Those damn rhythm games. They're fine as an annoying mini-game or part of a "beat the end level boss" type thing but as a full game? I watched someone play Guitar Hero the other day and, still, it looks as much fun as trying to chew off your ear. I simply cannot see any enjoyment out of it AT ALL. If this were a "complete levels to undress Britney Spears" game I wouldn't play it. Much.
One of my big gaming regrets is not getting into Final Fantasy. I know from previous discussions that Quill Guy is seriously into his FF, as are you Trash, and I did have one of the games (a big chunky box affair on the first Playstation) but it's never went beyond that. I always get a big twinge of jealousy when I see how much people are into these games, because I know that, sigh, I could and really should be too.

Definitely an acquired taste, but RPG's give you a lot more bang for your buck than any other genre of game, period. It's like getting a video game, movie, series of novels, strategy game, and comic book all at the same time. I think the rhythm game aspect of this one looks horrible, but seeing all of the characters and music spanning so many different games is like witnessing the Marvel or DC universes coming together for the first time. Ultros vs Odin? Nerdgasm time.
