Comic fans, film critics, and nearly all of the civilized world agree on one these two things: Batman is awesome, and nothing good whatsoever came out of the film "Batman and Robin". Well, my friend, one of those things is no longer true. Arnie's Mr. Freeze finally gets his due and a musical starring role on the biggest stage of them all: Youtube.

I felt a little erm - WTF after this haha. But there you go. Talking of batman - I recently attended ComiCon 2012 in London and DC got butt fucked publicly haha. Marvel teenies and fans alike were there and so were DC's conter parts - But one of artists for marvel Alex Ross I think it was turned round in a seminar he was giving and said that DC was no longer relevant where as Marvel is moving with the times and has never once - jumped the shark. He laughed and people booed! Other people cheered. I swear if there had been one person who realised the enemy was of course other fans in the room there would of been a klingon style face off... But it shows you that Marvel seem somewhat bitter about DC fuelling the ever growing argument of Marvel vs DC (sadly I decide to ignore this debate and read other such things these days like 2000 AD and occasionally AC.

Oh, Marvel and DC; there's enough irrelevance for both of you. I'll take Image, Dark Horse, and Vertigo (although owned by DC) over either. Batman has become almost unreadable under Grant Morrison (Batwoman on the other hand, is awesome), the "New 52" seems to be dropping more bad than good, Marvel's "events" almost always turn out lame, and they never stop, just constantly bombard us with drawn-out stories of questionable quality that hardly ever satisfy. If the comic industry is hurting, it's because those to have consistently been trying to out-saturate each other to the point that the product is too watered-down for 90% of their prospective audience. With corporate ownership over artists' creations, nobody wants to make anything worthwhile for those dicks, and all of the real creative power comes from the writers and pencilers. That's why there's such a discrepancy in quality now between small, independent comic companies and the Big Two.

OK, that was just GREAT. Surprisingly decent Arnie impression too, capturing a lot of his little accent tic's. Brilliant job.
I think the problem with Marvel and DC is the fact the characters have been around for so long and almost everything has already been done. New readers will want to read about Superman fighting Lex Luthor, because that's what is famous and what is known, but how many times can that scenario play out?
And as for the huge multi-title stories, they too seem to be written purely to gain headlines and turn heads, and the payoff is seldom worth the hype.
I've really fallen behind in the old comic book world as of late. I've barely picked up a, ahem, Funny Book, in about a year. Nothing in the "New 52" makes me want to change that, either.

Just like in music, there's lots of great stuff out there in comics, but you really have to dig to find it anymore. Lots of great indie stuff, but you seldom ever hear about it through anything but word of mouth.
