insidemovies.ew.com/2012/05/07/james-cameron-avatar/Seriously, Cameron? I mean, I'm a huge fan of Avatar and so many peoples' refusal to admit that it was a goddamn good movie is just evidence of contrarian hipster culture taking over the world, but I really hate the idea that a filmmaker of Cameron's talent is going to bog himself down in one franchise like.....well, like George Lucas. You saw how that turned out. I'm not even sure I WANT an Avatar sequel, but will gladly accept one if it's good. But Cameron's intention seems to be to run that motherfucker right into the ground. And it looked like he was posed to finally make an anime adaptation that wasn't crap too (Battle Angel Alita). So anyone else wishing he'd create another Terminator-like enduring new franchise or pop culture watermark or are you happier with more and more Avatar?

I remember thoroughly enjoying Avatar in the cinema, but I've had little interest to see it again. It's just one of those movies that, yes I liked, but I don't really care for. Great movie, don't get me wrong, it just didn't make me instantly want to see more as soon as the reels stopped turning.
I would see a sequel, and I can understand the demand for one, but I don't really know what else you could do in that world with those characters. I certainly can't imagine a franchise being anything other than fucking tedious.
Cameron - you have more to offer the world.

Yeah, I felt that Avatar had a beginning, middle, and end as any great story should. Adding more just seems unnecessary. But I'll reserve judgment until I actually see the thing. Still, I'd sure love to see him do something new and different.
