I can't help but assume this one will underwhelm me, but goddamn it do I want to see a movie where Clyde the ghost, Bowser, Zangief, and Dr. Robotnik all exist in the same video game villain support group. I just wish the humorous support group thing wasn't already so goddamn cliche. Here's the trailer for Wreck-it Ralph, which appears to be a Disney tribute to classic gaming. www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GHDQHVkYq4gHey, Tangled was pretty fun. Maybe this one will be all it can be and dig Disney animation further out of it's rut.

Not that I ever like to quote Youtube comments but I'll make an exception for this one; wow way to ruin a great trailer with a fucking ghay ass song..."Good Feeling" (which, in Gran Canaria I would hear the Avicci version, the Flo Rida version and even a "soulful" version by Christina Aguilera - every fucking NIGHT) chills me to the core. I would probably have closed the trailer window down a few seconds into it. But waaaaait a minute. Zangief? Bowser? Pac Man ghosts?? Now, Disney could be on a winner here BUT.. they could either cater to the old school video game nerds who'll actually get the jokes (will anyone under 25 even know who fucking Q Bert is?) or cram all the gaming references in the first fifteen minutes and then turn it into standard cartoon romp fare. I seriously, seriously hope it's the former because this looks amazing. I.. I actually want to see a Disney cartoon more than a Tarantino movie. Mind fuck. One minor gripe, though; a) what arcade hall has those kinds of 80s games still in them, and when would any kid under 10 even look at one of them?

Hang on, wait a second; I just re-watched that trailer to see all the villains. Castlevania Dracula (right?), Robotnik, Kano from Mortal Kombat.. but was Zangief ever a "bad guy?" Surely M Bison would've been the more obvious choice?

I'll let it slide. Also, now seems a bad time to take Disney to task for realism. I'll accept a retro arcade for the sake of a movie just fine, thank you. But yeah, I have a bad feeling that this is going to be like "Up" or something where the beginning is amazing and the rest relies on the goodwill generated in the beginning to force you to tolerate the rest.
