So along with slobbering, pandering morons celebrating 60 years of the Queen doing fucking nothing and getting paid for it, this week also marked the 40th birthday of one of the most important albums of all time. They rose, they fall, they came from Mars. And they blew our fucking minds. Yes, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars was released a staggering 40 years ago this week. Staggering for two reasons; Bowie still looks great And the music? Damn, that music. Still amazing, still groovy, still weird, rocking and untouchable. Take a listen and try and remain still. You won't. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EL0Vwqm1rGcSo, the happiest of birthdays to you, Mr Stardust. You deserve it. Now I'm off to play the Ziggy Stardust album the only way it should be played. Hell, it says so on the cover - AT MAXIMUM VOLUME.

Forty. Fucking. Years. Man, Bowie is one rocking dude. As soon as I get out of my indie hip-hop phase, I plan on picking up some Bowie. I want Stardust and Hunky Dory, but will likely end up getting that triple disc best-of for the sake of value since covering Bowie's entire career with the original albums is not something I'll ever be able to due.
