I feel like a bit of a traitor to my sex saying this, but as a fully straight, red blooded male I am sick of the sight of this ravishing beauty.
What is wrong with me? How could I possibly get sick of looking at THAT?
Well, sometimes less is more. As painfully average as their music can be, seeing pics and videos of the likes of Katy Perry, Beyonce, Avril etc is never a chore. But they've never reached the point of media saturation that Rihanna has.
Check this out; since 2010, she's been featured on SEVENTEEN singles, all of which had mass rotation on MTV. Think about that for a second. Lady Gaga is arguably the biggest popstar on the planet right now, she's only had 8 (four singles off two albums, fairly traditional).
The thing is, I could accept it if the music she's making was decent, but some of the tracks are fucking APPALLING. I say this as a genuine fan of pop music, and Rihanna's had some great pop songs. Trust me, she hasn't had an "Umbrella" moment in a long time. Two albums in one year will do that, especially when you don't write a word of it.
I don't know who pulls her strings, but her management seem intent on getting every last cent from Rihanna until either the public get absolutely pig sick of her or until she loses the plot, finds God or flees to Tibet or something.
I mean, releasing dozens and dozens of songs? Album after album? Who does she think she is?
Ahhhh.. now it makes sense.
