As the very namely Michael Jackson show states, This is it. 12 long weeks were I have taken you through some of my musical ventures. I hope you guys have enjoyed my picks. For this last week I bring you someone who se music I originally detested. Wow that sounds like a good start doesn’t it.
Week 12 – The final battle. Kate Bush. So this woman brought us amazing classics like Wuthering Heights, Babooska and Wow. I suppose I was far too young to appreciate anything artistic or creative when I first heard her. That and my dad fancied her which for some reason meant I immediately thought she was weird and didn’t like her. But spin on some years and I rediscovered the bush. This chick if you haven’t really ever dove into her stuff is without a shadow of a doubt amazing. Whether its from her voice to her dancing to her videos or even her symbolism. I love artists that have a brain and this posh spoken English woman certainly has that. It becomes apparent in most of her songs.
Another thing about Catherine is that she literally has a catalogue of songs that will make your head spin – in a good way. There is so many and most of them are known well. Kate is still going to this very day and has just released her 10th album. I had to take some time to really think about what featured song I wanted to put with this and after some deliberation I came up with “Running up that hill”
I love this song. Placebo have also done a fantastic cover. The song gives me chills and is such a good track to throw out on full blast. The song sings about how a man and woman in a relationship can’t truly understand what it’s like to be the other one because one is a man and one is a woman. The lyrics “IF I only could make a deal with god” is saying basically if I could make a deal to swap places for a bit just so I could truly understand. The video again is awesome. Ok I am no major on dance or interpretive dance but even I got the message here and Kate has big background in dance so it’s really effective.
Usually I give a segment about what’s the best album and what songs to recommend. I don’t have an answer for you here. I mean my favourites are “Running up that hill”, “Cloudbursting”, “Army Dreamers” and “The man with the child in his eyes”. So check them out if you want more, but I haven’t found a bad song just yet and admittedly I haven’t listened to 100 percent of her stuff. What I will note that even her newer stuff is really good , so give it a look see. Thanks for staying with me, Quill Guy Signing Off.
