Damn, now I don't know what to think. I had this cast into a vat of eternal shit from the minute I heard about it. Not just "another fucking remake", but remaking The Evil Dead?? Blasphemy.

But.. this looks not bad at all. Certainly some spooky looking stuff going on there, and it's nice to see the possessed aren't CGI but traditional make-up. And that tongue bit at the end? Brrr.

But (again).. a female Ash? A cast of bland Hollywood pretty-faces in place of Bruce God-damn Campbell?

Yeah, I'm not saying it looks bettr than the original, but it does look like they are willing to get into some sick shit. I'm not always anti-remake; I just wish that they would only do it if they were going to attempt to do the original justice. Too often they settle for bottom-of-the-barrel writers and directors who don't seem to appreciate or even understand what made the original good and then you get remakes like The Wicker Man or The Fog that simply have no place in this world. But if they do a good job of it? Well, it's a long shot, but I'm always willing to give it some love if they are willing to make a decent film and that trailer is more than a little encouraging.
