You know, I take everything I once thought and said back about the Sci-Fi Channel (or however they're spelling it nowadays). Used to be that exclusive shows that premiered on SyFy were almost certainly awful, something that other UK networks (FX, Sky One etc) wouldn't touch. But check it out; three of my very favourite shows are happily nestled in the Syfy timeline; Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, censored everywhere else except the UK (so I read), Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files and New Zealand comedy/action/drama The Almighty Johnsons. I happened upon this show by pure chance, and it's now one of our favourite TV shows. The plot: a teenage kid from New Zealand is told by his all male family that he is, in fact, a Norse God. Odin, in fact. And that the rest of his family are God's too, all with specific Godly powers. He must meet the girl of his dreams so that they all can take their rightful place in Asgard, if the evil Godess's (if that's a word) don't kill him first. What sounds like a pretty trite plot turns out to be a funny, smart, involving piece of TV. Low in actual effects and out there supernatural stuff (Buffy, it ain't) it makes it all the more important when "God shit" actually happens. Especially when the big guns are involved (Thor! Loki!) Here's the trailer for the full first season; a lot is shown, but no real spoilers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd80D347iSICheck this one out.

Your SciFi Channel is very different from ours. We've got neither of those over here (although we do have Fact or Faked). Hopefully, BBC America will bring them over.
