I don't know that anyone actually watches these web series when I post them, but I'm doing it anyways just in case anyone out there gives a shit. Anyways, BSG. Seems that I'm the only Fortress denizen who really enjoyed all that that stunningly bold and beautiful sci-fi series had to offer the entertainment world, a lot of existing fans dismissed it after a less-than stellar final season (which was still bold and exciting, mind you), Caprica kind of fizzled and burned after an amazing start, the DVD film "The Plan" was a horrific cash-in consisting mostly of existing footage from the series with new scenes inserted in, and the Sci-Fi Channel -while not willing to abandon their last big original franchise cash cow- decided to pass on the proposed series chronicling the adventures of young Bill Adama during the first Cylon War...kind of. Like I said, they were not ready to let BSG go just yet and Lil Adama finally gets his day in the web series Blood and Chrome.
If you thought BSG until now has been too pretentious, talky, and full of heavy-handed socio-political commentary to meet your space opera needs, this may be your ticket. B&C is mostly pulse-pounding space dogfighting action for the first half and on-the-ground survival horror with betrayals and plot twists to burn in the second half. No politics, only a little bit of commentary on the nature of war at the end, no existentialism, just a good old-fashioned sci-fi romp. The combined episodes are feature film length, like Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, and like that one, I was more than pleased with the quality of the film and seriously wonder why entertainment of this caliber is relegated to Youtube when I'd die to see it on the big screen. Anyways, B&C will be airing on Sci-Fi next year and then releasing on DVD (now with nudity!). But if you want to see it now (the show, not the nudity...for that you must wait), here you go. Enjoy.
