So the director for the next Star Wars film has been announced and I'm game. www.vulture.com/2013/01/zack-snyder-preps-non-trilogy-star-wars-film.html?mid=twitter_vultureYeah, baby. Zack Snyder. Maker of the epic badassery of 300, brilliant adapter of Watchmen, and bold creator of geek dream Nirvana in Sucker Punch; who better to bring Star Wars into the next generation? Technically, his concept of remaking Seven Samurai in the SW Universe has already been done in The Clone Wars series, but nobody tell him. I want to see that shit done on the big screen and not as some kiddie show that should never have been considered canon. I also like that they are making additional single-film stories outside of the epic scope of the trilogy structure. I'd like to pat on the back whoever came up with that notion, even if it was just a Disney exec's idea of how they can wring even more money out of their new acquisition in a shorter time. If the quality of writer/director is there, I've got little fear so long as Disney allows an extent of creative control. So anyways, this is encouraging news from a franchise I'd all but written off.

OK, I'm in. I thought 300 was a charmless yawn but Watchmen was every bit as good as I'd heard it was (haven't seen Sucker Punch yet, it's a Blu Ray blind buy when the price goes down a bit). Yeah, a brave choice, it'll be interesting to see what he does with the material. While I'm all for new characters and stories (there really isn't much that could be done with the original trilogy and I have no fucking desire to see or hear from anyone in the new movies) it'd be nice to throw the fanboys a bone or two. Ah, fuck it, you know what we all want, Snyder; THE MOVIE.

How much you wanna bet we see that dude officially resurrected in the next series? Anyways, looks like the gun may have been jumped with the announcement. www.aintitcool.com/node/60335Well shit. I've got to say that a sequel to 300 sounds like a piss poor idea next to the proposed Star Wars project, but Snyder works very fast so I'm definitely not ruling out the notion that he is going to write and direct this concept some day, even if it's just wishful thinking.
