OK, there's been way too much emphasis on male acts during this Verdict series, with only the female rappers from the Go! Team representing the fairer sex. Time for a girl. A girl with a guitar. And it's actually a reference to one of the very first entries in my selection, as today's choice once played in Irish rock heroes Ash. This is Charlotte Hatherley. She's attractive, writes her own songs and plays her own instruments, so tradition states that, of course, she will be all but ignored by 99% of the British public. Which is a real shame, because Charlotte brings a fun edge to guitar-led pop, with humour, attitude and, most importantly, tunes. I'm being self-indulgent again and picking two videos because, damn it, I can't pick between the two. First of is the first single from her first record, "Summer", directed by ex-boyfriend and Fortress hero Edgar Wright. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_9vJ-Q9IRIAnd, fittingly, here's the first single from her second album, "I Want You To Know." Try not to love it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2muG1ePX-aM

Man, you've been bringing the low-budget thunder this run so far. I like. Girl's got "indie" written all over her. I love the comments on the 2nd vid too. Neeeeerds!
