So in the UK we have just one episode left of the exemplary second series of American Horror Story, a show that could have sunk into stupidity or hokum after the excellent first series, but actually made a better story with better characters - AND made aliens and horror work to boot. No idea how it'll all end, but I thought we'd either take a look back, for fans of the show, or a fresh look for new converts, at my favourite scene in the series and possibly my favourite scene in television in general for years, since perhaps the finale of the UK Office. Ryan Murphy shows the fun side of the show, and his own TV Glee background, with a delusional, drugged up Sister Jude going all 60's retro kitsch. Try getting this song out your head once you've seen it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e37NtAYb5gMy expression pretty much matched Pepper's the whole way through this clip. Glorious.

That shit was daffy and random as hell. LOVED it. I'm watching the finale with the wife tonight, but thus far I was not really pleased with the last part of the season. It's a bad thing to end a story prematurely, but AHS has taken the Return of the King approach and has spent something like three full episodes winding down a story that already felt finished. Also, I found the aliens to be 100% unnecessary and tacked on with no benefits reaped whatsoever, although I suppose the finale could change my mind on that (but I doubt it). Still, I very much enjoyed the vast majority of the season and look forward to the next.

Oh, and while we're sharing best scenes in television, here's one that just aired over here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHq4fpeW-O0Going back in time to headbutt Hitler and ask him why he's got to be such a dick. Man, you just don't get that kind of awesome on American television.

Ahh, you've been watching Misfits, I see? Man, I fucking HATED that episode. I do like the show (even though most of the cast have been changed) but this whole episode made no sense at all. Why would going back in time suddenly transport you to Germany? Why, if she punched Hitler and got the phone back and time changed, would she suddenly magically appear back home again? Bull SHIT.
Speaking of Kelly, she was actually fired from the show because she was arrested for racial assault (apparently), punching an Asian taxi driver and telling him to go back to where he came from. She got four months in prison for it, to boot. At least she'd be used to the uniforms.

Jesus, really? So no Nathan AND no Kelly? That show's doomed. What a bummer. I hope she at least used her character's accent when she did it (ssuming that's not her real one). Shit would be epic. "Get bock whe' you com fraaaawm" [headbutts him]. Interestingly, Misfits doesn't air on BBC America, but on Logo which is an entire cable channel dedicated to LGBT's. So why would a show that only had one episode (so far) relevant to LGBT's in any way in three seasons air on that station? You got me, but at least somebody is airing it.

And there we have it folks, Trashcanman's first ever attempt at a British accent. Not a bad job by all accounts. But yeah, she really does talk like that, albeit not QUITE as broad. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb8Kxkkt7OcBack on to American Horror Story now I've seen the last episode.. yeah, the aliens didn't really have an enormous purpose, I guess. Unless they're part of the third season they weren't really explained. What were the kids all about? Why DID they protect Kit Walker? Me and Mrs C were surprised to find the show still going as well, like, "what's left to wrap up here?" But I thought the last episode was pretty damn good, even if Bloody Face's son caved WAY too easily. You spend your life hating someone and killing anyone who gets in your way and you suddenly turn into a child again? Nahh. Great show, though. Season 3 has been officially confirmed, so I can't wait for that.

I'm definitely interested to see what they come up with. After haunted house and insane asylum, I'm guessing they go for....summer camp? It's the only other really classic horror location I can come up with off the top of my head, and it could incorporate nature horror like Long Weekend and any number of killer animal flicks as well as slashers and stuff like I Spit on your Grave/Deliverance, mutant hillbilly cannibals, and Eden Lake. Ah man, I'm writing season three in my head right now....
Also, I think in the first ep of Misfits, someone (I think Alisha) commented on Kelly's accent being unusual. Is that a regional thing or just kind of a ow class kind of deal? Also, I actually use an english accent in my actual speech from time to time just for kicks. It probably sounds like shit, but my fellow Americans wouldn't know the difference. It's got to be better than Keanu Reeves' attempt.
