It's been a good few weeks for fans of that much missed quality in music. Don't know if you remember it, it's called "talent." What with the Nicki Minaj's and Will.I.Am's of the world being shoved down our throats, its easy to forget such a thing as talent exists. Recently, however, Mr David Bowie made a triumphant comeback, with an enormously well received new single and a sure fire number one album when it's released. Similarly, a certain Purple One has released a new single, and it's his best single in years. Not sure if it'll receive the same media attention that the Bowie track did, but fuck it. Like he cares. This is Prince. With a guitar. Enjoy the ride. www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8g922A5MJQMan, 2013 is shaping up nicely so far.

Anything Prince does with a guitar is fine by me. Decent tune, but I like this comment on the vid:
"I clicked THUMB DOWN. Even I love this song and have highest respect to Prince I think the person who is putting this song on YOUTUBE which just came out 1 DAY earlier has no respect for PrinceĀ“s Art by uploading this and making it able people not buying his art. This is not the way to be a FAN or support an Artist you respect. There is a short preview of it on youtube and that should be enough.Makes me really go mad when people dont understand they damage people they respect.Sorry very selfish!"
Broken english aside, posting the vid on youtube can only raise awareness that Prince is still around and get them amped to buy the album when and if he releases it. And let's face it, this dude went looking for that shit on youtube too. I doubt he happened across it by accident. Another comment says something about Prince and The Donnas. Are they his new backing band or something? That could be badass.

Yeah, I don't understand that logic either. If the person who HAD put the video up had also put a link to a free download of the song, then yeah - fuck that guy. But let's face it; Prince isn't on the mainstream radar like he once was. He's not Lady Gaga. His music isn't going to find its way into people's consciousness by itself, so if someone can hear that song thanks to YouTube and then think "wow, I like that" and their next step is iTunes then fuckin' A.
I'm all for agreeing with Prince's beliefs on certain things (play live, fight against over controlling labels) but his fight against YouTube is self punishing and pointless.

Oh, and I have no idea where the Donna's fit in with Prince. Not heard that one at all. On a similar note, check out his new drummer, Hanna Ford. Dude sure can pick 'em.

Yeah, I kind of dig that he surrounds himself with hot and talented women onstage. It magnifies his pimp status and allows a lot of female musicians to get out there and perform in front of millions, which is something that not enough lady instrumentalists get to do since 99% of the time it's the guys that get those jobs.
