Ahhh, now then, what is THIS, you're asking. Good question. Time for a good answer. For a few years now, The Your Verdict series has given myself and other members of the Fortress of Solitude a chance to show fellow members what music they love and gives us a chance to rate or slate it. Well, continuing on in that vein, and usually because it's only Trashcanman that plays this game, I'm taking a second look at some of the bands and artists from the previous series and giving them a second chance to shine. Now, our friend Trashy may have liked the original song, he may have hated it. But we're blowing the dust off another of their records and seeing what he thinks of it this time around. Will a previous thumbs down become a thumbs up? Will the previous "yaaay" turn into a nay? Only time will tell here. In no particular order, then, is the lovely Marina and the Diamonds. Trashcanman's Original Response, July 12, 2010: "Something very off putting about her voice." So, lead single from the first record "America" was praised for it's lyrical content but the overall song got a thumbs down, and that was the last we heard from her. Until now, that is. This is "Oh No!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr-SqRWImmIOh yes.

Man, you ain't playin'. I don't even remember hearing them the first time. She sure is off-putting though, but that's not always a terrible thing. I hate Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro, but I think Jane's Addiction made killer music. I actually think this song is more than a little bit listenable. Maybe it's because I've been concentrating on expanding my pop music horizons over the last few years, or maybe this song is just better than the last one you featured, but I can give this one a moderate thumbs up.
