Second Look Sunday - Week Five!

(This is the first time I've started a thread with pics and videos, so I get to see how the new site works. Looks good so far..)

We delve through the mists of time, back to the very first series of Your Verdict, and a band that haven't done much in the last two years, but will have a new album out soon. That is an instant, no questions asked purchase for The Curmudgeon. That's how much I dig this band.



Admittedly, the New Pornographers don't LOOK like much to get excited about, but they sure do make exciting, smart, sophisticated pop/rock. Let's see how they fared with Trashcanman with this song..



And what did Mr Trash have to say about that?

Damn. "Musically decent." That's about as flattering and complimentary as "well, I would probably hit my brakes if I saw them on the road. Maybe."

Let's see if we can do better this time. I was going to pick the video that has the stars from Community involved (David Cross from Arrested Development in the last one and now Community? These guys like their cult comedies), but I just plain like this song better, and it features the lovely Niko Case on vocals. And - OH! - that chorus.

I disagree , good sir.

But yeah, the first tune was featured in Rock Band and it never really lit me up. This one I do like better. She's got a really interesting and unique quality to her singing and the music's pretty raw and rocking. Approved.

That fine lady is Niko Case. She's a bit of a cult figure in the indie world (arguably more than the Pornographers themselves) and yeah, her voice is something else. Hot too. Glad you like.
