Unlike last week, when we traveled way back to the very first round of the Your Verdict series, I'm only going so far back as just over a year ago. Reason? I've quickly become obsessed with this artist, the first song was well received by Trashcanman and this song is just gorgeous. Re-introductions, first. Swedish pop royalty Mr Jens Lekman So how did we all get along first time around? Let's re-cap with the first song, "You are the Light." Trashcanman's Original Response, 5th February, 2012: Love that. Seriously, if you don't dig this vid, you are just dead inside. I get the Morrissey comparison, but that whiny bastard drives me batshit and this guy just reeks cool.Glowing praise, indeed. Well, this time around we're going for a song that will, quite simply, melt your soul. No fun video (it wasn't a single, it was hidden away on a four track EP) but oh my stars and garters it is beautiful. Like Trashy's original comment about the video, if THAT guitar doesn't get you, you are just dead inside. This is Black Cab.

The music is killer and I like the chorus, but the vocals kind of show Lekman's limitations as too closely resemble "You Are the Light" stylistically. A full album of it might get old, but this is great stuff to have on an iPod playlist, for sure.

Yeah, that's a fair point regarding the vocals, as he doesn't exactly have a huge range in his arsenal, so unless you love his vocals I guess it could get a little bit tiring.
