Thought I'd give you American Dwellers a heads up regarding a new British TV show that is due your way soon (I checked), because you could easily miss it or pass on it, like I was going to. A "gripping drama" about a little seaside town? Yeah, see ya. It was at the behest of Mrs C that I sat down and watched it. So far - TV show of the year. What's also SO refreshing to see is the fuss surrounding it, not just from people who watch "real" TV but it got almost the same kind of exposure and "water cooler" discussion surrounding it as the likes of the X Factor. It's a brilliantly written, superbly acted 8 part British drama about a little boy who gets murdered, and the detective trying to unravel the mystery. Sounds a little hokey, but it's not. It's just great, great television, and it really shows just how intrusive and fucking loathsome the media are nowadays with this sort of thing. Here's the trailer. It doesn't look like much (hence why I would have passed on it), but it'll give you an idea of what to expect. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f5DNUF2CFcKeep both eyes out for this one, and AVOID SPOILERS if you do plan on seeing it.

It's not coming up just yet on my cable service or Netflix, but I'll try and keep an eye out. Speaking of British shows, I missed the first few eps of one called Orphan Black when it aired. Any good? Also, holy fuck why didn't you tell me about The Black Mirror (or did you and I forgot?). I imported that baby and it scratched my conceptual sci-fi itch something wicked. Charlie Brooker is a damn genius.

Hmm, Orphan Black? Never even heard of that one. I had to Google it. Looks pretty good, it was on the BBC but that one totally passed me by. It's been renewed for a second season though.
Hands up admission time, I've never seen Black Mirror. Recorded it, never watched it. Heard all kinds of good things about it, just never got round to watching it. Worth a look, then?

Dear. God. Yes. Here, let me sell it to you in one sentence. The first episode opens with a princess being kidnapped and the demand is that the Prime Minister has to fuck a pig on live tv or she dies.

Yep, that sounds like our Charlie alright. So is every episode a one off drama?

Yeah, they are each (roughly) hour-long individual stories about technology, and the first three episodes were all pretty much flawless from where I was sitting. Think of it as a high-tech modern Twilight Zone with a much nastier edge.
