Wow, we are just SOARING through these, aren't we? Eight weeks have passed already? Scary.
Anyway, we crank up the speed to 88 miles per hour and go back to 2010 (week three, to be exact) when Scottish indie rock veterans Idlewild were the main course of the day. They're still going now, but their days of being essential listens and purchases have long since passed. A shame, because, and here's a phrase I hate, Back In The Day, these guys were A-List in the world of The Curmudgeon.
So let's keep to those days, and their first four major releases (one EP, three studio albums) are all well worth taking a look at. In fact, the first EP and album are among my very favourite records of all time. The first song we looked at was from the first album, and 'twas this.
I honestly could play every track on that album (Hope is Important) and I'd love it just as much.
Anyway, the Verdict then?
Trashcanman's Original Response, May 3rd, 2010: That shit was RAW!
Raw, indeed. And so this time, for the second time around, we take a look at the second album, and something slightly less raw and a little bit more polished. Didn't grab me the first time I heard it, but I love it now. This is "Actually, It's Darkness."
Still raw.. or cooked to perfection?

Definitely not as raw, but not overproduced either. Not sure that I prefer the cleaner, more melodic approach for them as opposed to the more Nirvana-esque track from before, but the song is far from bad. Just a bit too much like other mainstream alternative rock groups.
