Well, after the crash and burn failure of last week (I don't think I've ever seen a more difficult to find link on the internet), here's hoping for something you can actually SEE this week. And I thought I'd take another look at an album that got two major leases of life. The first from myself when I originally bought it and played it pretty much every day, and the second was years later when I first met Mrs C. She was a fan of this new popstar Avril Lavigne, so I figured if she liked bratty, shouty pop rock she should be listening to a band who don't have some corporate management group pulling the strings in every direction. Boom - another million plays for that CD.
We're talking Kenickie, a (mostly) girl group from the UK (the same neck of the woods as Mrs C, as it happens), who released exactly two albums in their short lifespan, but who were clearly about 5 years ahead of the current trend. If they'd released their debut record when Avril Lavigne and Pink were pretending to be rockstars, they'd have been enormous. Sigh. Such is life.
Anyway, here's the original video;
And what the original verdict was on "Punka."
Trashcanman's Original Response, March 19th, 2010: "Man, that guitar sound is FILTHY. Thumbs up."
So far, so good, so let's take a look at the single which got me into them in the first place, "In Your Car." And as hot as Avril is, she's got nothing on awesome blonde Lauren Laverne, who just looks.. FILTHY.
Gotta be better than SK8R Boi, right?

Yeah, I've got bad news about that video.... Bu this one works: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oXzV9BiCzkJesus Christ, why would you even compare these guys to Lavigne? I have a soft spot for poppy punk, and this group fits the bill.
