We're almost wrapping things up here on this series, so we'll go back to a band that failed to make Trashcanman's black heart beat last time around, and hope that the Second Look has more luck.
Back in 2011, we were discussing UK rapper Mike Skinner, AKA The Streets, and his tale of meeting his girlfriend in a club, taking pills and going off his head didn't set Trashy's world alight. Recap?
Trashcanman's Original Response, April 22nd, 2011: "Musically, it does nothing for me whatsoever, but as a concept the video was worth a watch."
Hmm, well, time for a song that when I first heard it (in a music shop, I remember) made me stop in my tracks because it was SO different to what had come before. A British guy not trying to sound American and not disguising his accent. Nothing special now, but back then? Wow.
So this is the track that first brought The Streets to the public attention. Take a listen.
Win this time around?

You know that's reggae, right? Yeah, I'll give this one the thumbs up. This track is more musical, the rap is less talky, and it doesn't rely on a cliche "in da club" synth riff. Well done.

Yeah, it does have a reggae vibe to it. I'm full of surprises. I like the "you say that everything sounds the same, then you go buy them" line. It's relevant more than ever now. Glad you like it, though.
