With one band sentenced to a cold and violent death, we look now to a band who don't have a back catalogue of hits to support them or to fall back on. In fact, this will almost certainly be a one hit wonder group that stands before you, so you really can only judge them on this one track. But hey, that's what we're here to do, yes?
Bit of a culture clash, this group. Their lead vocalist, Lady Oo, is Dutch, the rest of the group are from the UK and this song is said to be reminiscent of Balkan music. Whatever that means.
Anyway, the ludicrously titled Sam and the WOMP scored a huge number one hit with their debut (and probably last) single. NME noted that the success of this, PJ and Duncan's "Let's Get Ready to Rhumble" and Gangham Style show that the UK is getting its sense of humour back when it comes to pop music, after the barrage of love songs and posing idiots being In Da Club. Sometimes it's OK to be dumb, don't you think?
Anyway, here's Bom Bom Bom.
And now they stand before you on trial. How do you find them?

Making shitty music ironically is still making shitty music. These White Eyed Peas must be abolished with extreme fucking prejudice.
Aaaaargh! Make 'em walk the plank!

Well I stayed until the end. Now I find myself these days, in a club, occasionally, against my better judgement. It happens. Sometimes it can be 'alright'. But what MAKES it an alright night is the music that is played. I can take a bit of "thrift shop" or "212", even remixed Ke$ha if you catch me on a good day. It is apparent to me that the public has gained a bit of cynical comedy with it's pop tastes. I.e Jedward. I took this one hit, from this fairly new band. It DID get 4 x Platinum in Australia. Credit where it's due, that isn't an "easy" thing to accomplish I imagine. Was it good? Well the tune was repetitive - but what pop song isn't these days? *awaits an onslaught of examples that put me in the shitter*. It wasn't catchy. Well I didn't think so anyway, it seemed annoying at best and I actually ENJOYED the korean phase that passed us by with Gangnam Style and PSY, so I do have a tolerance. The dutch Singer sounded like she suffered from Learning Difficulties. You know when your trying to teach a child something, say "Now you be good Pinocchio..." or "Don't go sticking your fingers into plugs, okay?" The end of every sentence get's a little higher. Lady Oo so aptly named sounded exactly like that, not to mention her dress sense reminded me of some sort of gender confused Tweenie. What the hell is it actually talking about? I assume she's blithering about how good he can "bom bom" or dance? Right? Or was it a terribly unsubtle metaphor for sex? It wasn't clear. Pop songs, at least should be that I would hope. Las Ketchup, the video shows you the moves. In most R&B songs it's about how much cash you have, how many cluuuuuurbs you've been to or how many gurls you've entered ball deep. Enrique sings about how he lost his balls, being deep in love. Bom Bom from Sam and the Womp get's a negative vote from me and makes it a second week of negative review. Let them burn in Napalm. Looking forward to next week.

The votes have been counted, the results are in and YES, Sam and the WOMP are free to go about their business, safe to record more music that will be heard by pretty much no-one. Your one hit wonder status, and indeed your very lives, have been saved today. Congratulations.
