It's been a busy old week for the Curmudgeon, but justice is patient, and justice waits. Justice's time.. is NOW. I should write movie trailers, man. Anyway, dubstep is quickly becoming a bit of an embarrassment, but one of the few groups who were in danger of making it respectable were British dance group Nero. They scored a debut number one album and had a string of big hit singles. This one in particular, with its retro video game clip, gets the seal of approval from me. Take a look. Do they walk.. or hang?

Brilliant choice C. I say that not only because I really like the song choice but because I got to think about why. First off I hadn't seen the video before. It had so many throw backs I didn't know what was coming. Time Crisis at the beginning there, Streets of Rage, Pole Position and there was something Tron like about them actually being there. Class. I want more music videos like this for this kind of music. Pretty tired of non nonsensical videos showing sound waves blasting at people like their in a NASA G-Force machine. So Nero, I would actually love to see these guys at a music festival, in a tent. The atmosphere would be pretty intense - while these guys are not my favourite band or anything, they have to be my favourite artist of this genre. Fake Blood, Crystal Castles and, sometimes, Skrillex I guess, are up there. Nero blasts it's way up there with a catchy tune that I continuously blast out of my Galaxy S III on the way to wherever it is I am going as loud as I can without breaking my ear drums. The song itself well the lyrics as expected aren't anything to write home about but I love the tune. Appropriately it would fit about a bizzilion games, and I would hummiming it while splooshing the dishes into the sink like a robot as some form of medial, unfulfilling, escapism. I like that it breaks before the end, it's pretty much busy all the way through the song from the minute the lyrics kick in properly 'till the end and it never rises above what it is - leaving you to go as mental as you like (if your in that sort of environment) or head nod as wildly as you can. YOU DECIDE. Non of this slow rising shite that Rijanna has recently stamped her name on. Have they got a future still? Will they continue being big? Can they diversify this style of music enough to keep bringing out tunes like this? I guess we will see but certainly this week they have to be innocent of all charges for me. Let's hope the rest of the Jury agrees. I can be quite persuasive...

I liked that. And I have no idea why. It's a guilty pleasure for me, and it makes me confused. This is the sort of thing that can make you rethink your sexuality guys. I'm not sure how to feel.

That was.....spectacular. It was more like an epic rock song than any dubstep I've ever heard. Is all their stuff like that?

So it's been three days and I have listened to this track every day since Sunday. I think the fortress maybe responsible... It was the same for Robin Thicke. Usually I stick to the same seven or eight bands for a week or two until something else comes along but man, Rammstein and Nightwish haven't been on at least 3 weeks. Wasn't it DEV who said (and shame on me for this) I like my beats fast and my bass down low. This week at least it seems to be holding true. Bring on Week 10!

Bless your heart, Quillford. And any thread that manages to make someone question their sexuality is a thread done right. Trashy - I haven't heard a great deal of Nero, but their biggest hit is "Promises". It's got the same breathless female vocals and bombast as "Me and You" so you might enjoy it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=llDikI2hTtk

I kind of love this. I'm going to wishlist it. Fucking Youtube is becoming unbearable, though. Not only do you have to wait to watch almost every video because of adverts, but now full-volume ads are playing down the page over the goddamn music. Unbelievable. Is there anything that makes you want to buy a product less than having their fucking commercial blast at you from the very bottom of a page while you try to listen to music or have a full page pop-up block the article you're trying to read? Son of a BITCH!

I now pay for Spotify TCM, Youtube got insane and for just ten pounds a month I get to support artists and listen to what I like on my pc and smart phone. Tempted?

I don't listen to much music on my PC and when I do it's my iTunes so it wouldn't be much of an investment for me. I pretty much just use Youtube for sharing on message boards. But shit, it's becoming shitty even for that. Ridiculous.

We use Spotify at work and it's an absolute Godsend. I like owning physical copies of music so it's not my personal choice but it seems to be where the smart money is now.
Youtube is a constant head-ache, especially for this site. It's enough asking people to take 5 minutes out of their day to listen to something or watch a clip, without watching shitty adverts first, and that's if it even plays in the country you live in first.
Trashy, I have given up trying to work you out, my friend. I thought you would shrug this one off, but you've went ahead and wishlisted it? Nope. You're a baffling conundrum.

I actually bought it already. One thing I love about Amazon is that I buy the physical copy, but they let me download an MP3 version immediately so I don't even have to wait for it to arrive. How fucking great is that? Best of both worlds, baby. I don't know, man; this stuff just sounds cool to me. It's weird to think I actually own a dubstep album now seeing that I've been blowing that genre off as repetitive crap consistently for years now, but here I am paying for it willingly. Gotta gibe Nero some respect for that.

Hmmm, I don't think Amazon UK do that. I bought a few albums from Amazon and got no offer of MP3 versions. Maybe that's just an American thing, but it's a great idea. Man, us Brits get fucked over on everything.
Anyway, absolute no contest this week. Nero burst out, alive and well.
