Bart Simpson once said, before meeting The Critic, that he smelled "another cheap cartoon cross-over" (even though that was a pretty great episode itself) and so, 18 years later, that cheap cartoon cross-over happens again, this time with a family that the Simpson's have taken a few pot-shots at over the years, and vice versa. This lot. What's interesting is that the Simpson's are appearing on Family Guy but not the other way round, so expect some no doubt amazingly crafted gag that has, I dunno, Homer remembering the time he fought with his son, cut to a flashback of Homer as Darth Vader fighting Bart as Luke, while Stewie makes some joke about Luke wanting to have sex with his sister. I suppose it's good publicity for both shows, but part of me feels just a little bit disappointed with Matt Groening and co for agreeing to this.

That cutaway gag thing is pretty spot-on, though. South Park already teamed up with The Simpsons to slap Family Guy down in a two-part episode, but I don't know this definitely reeks of cheese. Eh, I'll see what happens.

The Simpson's and South Park "getting along" makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
I don't watch Family Guy, but have you ever watched any of McFarlane's other shows? They just look like the exact same formula every single time. What are they like?

American Dad is pretty good. Actually, better than Family Guy most of the time since it focuses more on actual characters and stories rather than just random-ass references and cutaway gags. I really couldn't be bothered with The Cleveland Show, though. The movie "Ted" was pretty damn funny too. I'd recommend that one for sure, even if it was the exact moment when I realized that McFarlane is shoehorning a furry fetish into everything he does. If nothing else, it had mucho Flash Gordon love.

Yeah, Ted was great. The Flash Gordon thing came out of nowhere and I loved it. I wonder how many 15 year olds watching that movie for the dick jokes were totally lost with that entire bit.
On similar animated TV discussion, Mrs C found a site where, for four dollars a month, you can switch from UK Netflix to US Netflix, so we now have both. The American site has so much more, including every episode of King of the Hill, a show I didn't really appreciate when it was first on. I plan to watch every episode.

I didn't realize there was a different streaming selection depending on what country you are from, but it makes sense. It's really cool that you can expand into another country's selection for such a small price. Have you watched Orange is the New Black yet? Pretty great show, and a NF original. They've been knocking it out of the park on original programming so far. NF may become the HBO of streaming.

It's on there (in the UK as well). We're swamped with TV right now but it's definitely on the horizon. Netflix really is a great service. I only intended to get it for Arrested Development, but there's so much more on there than that.
A show only available in the US is an old kids show called "Freaks and Geeks" written by Judd Apatow. I'm almost certain we never got it in the UK. Have you heard of that?

You really want to watch that. It's kind of the Firefly of high school dramas, meaning it was insanely good but almost nobody noticed until after it was canceled.

I love it. Not just because James Franco is so unBELIEVABLE in it but because it is such a great script. The relationships between the characters are so sweet and the comedy in it is spot on. I love how most of the cast have gone on to do bigger things without using the garingly obvious franco, segel and rogen even some of the other characters have done well. Linda Cardellini (Lyndsay) played a major character in ER John Francis Daly (Sam) plays Dr Sweets In Bones. He has not really changed though and they still joke about how young he looks. Busy Philips (Kim) is "busy" laughing it up in Cougar Town playing a completely different character to that of Kim and Cameo of the show so far goes to a very young shia La Bouf for his role as hector the school Mascot. Good Ol' IMDB if I didnt constantly read this i would mnever have known.
